A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 297

Chapter 297

Eventually, all five bodyguards collapsed, slumping to the floor. They leaned against the wall, drained of strength.

“What did you spray on them?” Cora had been throwing up, but she felt fine after leaving the office.

However, the bodyguards showed no signs of improvement. Cora thought about it and figured the only possibility. was that Joseph had applied something near their nostrils, and that was the cause of the problem.

“Scented gel. It’s really fragrant. Would you like to apply some?” Joseph took a tube out, as if to apply some gel on Cora. She quickly dodged him, not daring to let him touch her.

“Cora, stop messing around with me. Otherwise, this won’t end well. All I want is very simple. Tell me who your lover is and who the father of the children is. Then we’ll get a divorce,” Joseph said sternly.

“I never cheated on you! You’re the father of our children, so I’ll never divorce you! Honey, you should stop/ messing with me,” Cora said.

“Oh, well. I guess there’s no way we can reconcile this! If you refuse to come clean, I’ll uncover the truth myself.

“Jenton is a large place, but everyone is well-connected. There are only a few men who could’ve gotten you pregnant. You can’t keep your secret forever.

“I’ll let you off tonight. Don’t come looking for me again. Otherwise, it won’t end well for you next time.”

Joseph ignored Cora, got into his car, and drove off.

Still, Cora didn’t call the police. She had her other subordinates take her bodyguards to the hospital for treatment before returning to her villa.

Cora then received another report. The people following Joseph near the hospital had been discovered. He had seen through them and ordered hospital security to seize them.

Unless she sent more people to follow him, she would no longer be able to monitor his movements in real time.

The current Joseph was beginning to resist and had his own way of handling things. If she weren’t careful, she might fall into his trap. But if she went for a more aggressive, heavy-handed method, she was afraid she would end up hurting him.

As of now, Cora hadn’t even figured out who set fire to the building. She had to pour a lot of her energy and resources into running Lowell Group and couldn’t afford to divide her attention.

For the first time, she felt truly exhausted and helpless.

Back then, when Cora worked late into the night, Joseph would always have nutritious meals waiting for her the moment she walked through the door. He would even give her a massage to help her unwind.

Joseph hadn’t been home all this time, leading Cora to realize that his years of quiet support had been essential to her success. He had been her backbone,

How had things ended up this way? Where did things go wrong?

Just then, Helen walked over and noticed her grim expression, so she asked, “What’s up? Why do you look so exhausted?”

Cora didn’t hide a single thing from Helen and told her how she had gone to capture him but got outplayed instead. She and her bodyguards were nearly taken down, too.

Then Cora asked, “My conflict with Joe is getting worse, and we’re not even close to reconciliation. What should! do?”

Joseph wasn’t docile anymore. Helen took a deep breath and said, “If it’s time to let go, then just let him go. Otherwise, you’ll end up hating each other.”

“It’s all just a misunderstanding between us. I won’t let go!” Cora exclaimed.

“Is that really it? Cora, maybe it’s true. You didn’t sleep with other men, but you did go to a milk bath with Warren. To Joseph, that was completely unforgivable.”
