At the hospital, Joseph wasn’t even affected in the slightest. After work, he left the hospital. Once he was certain no one was following him, he went to Dolly’s villa again and treated Belinda.

Cora didn’t drop off her daughters at Joseph’s workplace again. Instead, she went to see him herself and realized that, just like before, he still refused to come home with her and was even more hostile.

Still, she didn’t want to fight with him in case she provoked him and he lost control, putting herself in danger instead. She decided to let him be for now.

Many days later, Belinda had made a significant recovery and was able to walk like normal. After experiencing Joseph’s exceptional medical skills once again, she finally told him what went down that day.

The truth was, not only did Cora look into the arson attack herself, but she had also asked Jonas, Belinda’s older brother, to investigate. Very quickly, they narrowed their suspicion down to Belinda.

Belinda did not betray Joseph and chose to pin the blame on the late Barry. Even though Jonas had his suspicions, he considered how arrogant and reckless Barry had been when he was alive, so it didn’t seem impossible.

After Wallace found out, he was furious and stormed off to confront Belinda. When she couldn’t explain herself, she bore the brunt of his rage.

Belinda didn’t tell Joseph that there was another reason she had been beaten. She had mocked Jonas and Wallace, angering the Townes and Zahns.

She knew that as long as she survived their beatings, she would eventually come under Joseph’s protection, giving her a chance to stay alive.

As Belinda observed Joseph, she became even more certain that her gamble had paid off. If she had betrayed him back then, the Townes and the Zahns wouldn’t have let her off easy. Even Cora wouldn’t have spared her.

Joseph definitely wouldn’t have let the betrayal slide. With no one to rely on, she would have been doomed.

As Joseph got Belinda talking, he learned more about the Townes and Zahns. He then picked up on something suspicious.

“From what you just said, it sounds like my wife was pretty close to your older brother, Jonas. Did I get that right?”

“My brother has always been very secretive and rarely hangs out with us. I don’t know anything about his private life, but I wouldn’t completely rule out a connection between him and your wife.

“My brother has extremely high standards and would never go for ordinary-looking women. But your wife is a rare beauty. I don’t think he’d turn her down.”

Joseph went quiet, thinking about everything he knew about the Townes. He muttered to himself, “Jonas is

married, isn’t he? His daughter goes to a girls’ school, and his son attends an elite middle school.”

“That’s right. However, those children were born to Jonas’ first wife. His second wife isn’t even 30 years old, so she couldn’t be the mother of teenagers.

“If you ask me, his second wife doesn’t look like the faithful type at all. You could try seducing her. As long as you provoke Jonas, he’ll definitely tell you everything about his relationship with your wife.”

“What you said makes perfect sense,” Joseph said as a plan began to form in his head.

Once he was back at the hospital, he called Cora and asked, “What’s your relationship with Jonas Towne?”
