A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 313

Chapter 313

While Joseph was studying a treatment plan, Wendy knocked on the door and entered his office.

“Joseph, I’m sure you’ve heard about Frank’s death, right?” Wendy got straight to the point.

Joseph looked up at Wendy and saw that she was dressed in white from head to toe. She looked downcast, though. anger still lingered on her face.

He replied, “I heard about it. Some even thought I killed Frank, but did they even stop to think about it?

“Your brother was doing fine at Jenton University Hospital earlier, yet he died after he was transferred to the Traditional Medicine Center. I refuse to believe there’s nothing fishy going on behind the scenes!”

“I knew they wanted my brother dead! If he hadn’t been the one controlling the family’s fortune, they would’ve killed him long ago!

“Joseph, that’s exactly why I came here to see you. While Frank was here, did he ever tell you anything important?

“No!”

“Joseph, don’t lie to me! I’m begging you. Please tell me the truth. I’ve run out of options!” Wendy exclaimed, tears welling up in her eyes. “Frank’s dead, and Warren too. Given my situation right now, I can’t even look for a job. I can’t survive without money.”

“I can’t help you with that! Frank never woke up, so he never got to tell me anything. Actually, even if he had woken up, he wouldn’t have shared any secrets with me.

“After all, we weren’t close. Wendy, I have a suggestion. You should go to my wife. Ask her to give you a way out for Frank’s sake.”

Joseph felt absolutely no sympathy for Wendy. Back then, when he told her to expose Cora’s affair, she completely ignored him and treated him like a useless fool.

Now the tables had turned, and Wendy had come to beg Joseph for help. That only made him look down on her.

Of course, there was a hint of satisfaction. Perhaps it was better described as vindication.

“Cora would take every cent from me if she could. Why would she even give me a way out?”

“You haven’t tried asking Cora. How would you know she won’t give you a way out? Besides, do you have anywhere else to go? Since you don’t, you might as well try your luck.”

Joseph didn’t waste any more time on Wendy and gestured for her to leave.

Not long after, Katie knocked on the door and entered his office, holding an appointment slip. “Joseph, I’m here for treatment. No one will suspect anything.”

Joseph replied, “You’re pretty sharp. Since you’re here, then tell me straight up. What exactly is Kenneth doing?

“Don’t tell me he’s slacking off. Tell him to get the job done first. Then he can do whatever he wants!”

Katie knew Kenneth was doomed. Joseph had him firmly in his grasp, and he could only become Joseph’s lackey, doing whatever Joseph wanted.

Katie said, “My brother’s already working on it. He’s… He’s not slacking off. He wouldn’t dare do that!”

“So what has he even done?” Joseph asked. He wanted to see Jonas suffer, but the news he got back so far was that Jonas was alive and well.

“Kenneth said it’s all done. We just need to give him time. Joseph, please have faith in Kenneth. He may not be talented in medicine, but he’s quite good at unconventional ways of getting things done.”

Joseph liked hearing things like that and asked Katie to hold out her hand. After checking her pulse, he found nothing abnormal.

Just as he was about to prescribe her some medicine to improve her health, he heard her ask, “Joseph, can… can Y learn medicine from you?”

“You want to learn medicine from me? Aren’t you a doctor? You’re quite capable yourself. Why would you even need to learn from me?”

“No, there are still many things I need to learn. I’m not even in the same league as you, Joseph.
