Chapter 317

After leaving, Joseph gave Cora a call and said, “Cora, you never cease to amaze me. You’re actually using Natalie to manipulate me now? That tells me that your relationship with Jonas is a lot closer than you’re willing to admit.

Cora replied, “Honey, it isn’t what you think. Mia is pitiful. Her mother died when she was very young…”

Joseph interrupted, “You certainly have enough sympathy to spare. Instead of worrying about someone else’s child, why don’t you spare some for your own? Natalie still can’t stop thinking about her biological father.”

Cora responded, “You’re Natalie’s biological father.”

“Someone like you has no right to lecture anyone about morality. Trying to use those things to manipulate people/ will only backfire,” warned Joseph.

He ended the call. Feeling stuffy, he lit a cigarette. Just then, his phone rang. It was an unknown number, but the voice was familiar. It was a call from Marla.

Marla began, “Joseph, help me save a few people. Several members of my family have been poisoned. They’re still unconscious. I know how skilled you are, so I’m begging you to save them.”

Joseph was surprised, but he quickly realized this gave him the upper hand to negotiate. “You’re a liar. Every word out of your mouth is a lie. I wouldn’t even trust a punctuation mark you say.

“If you hadn’t called today, I would have assumed you were dead. Why did you run so fast last time? Were you afraid I would hurt you?”

Marla pleaded, “I’ll explain everything when I get back, but right now, please save my family. I’m begging you.”

Joseph asked, “Is your family really poisoned? I thought you were close with the Lowell family? They’ve taken over the Traditional Medicine Center. Jenton’s Miracle Doctor, Jenna Zahn, is there too. Why don’t you send your family there?”

Then, a thought crossed Joseph’s mind. Before Marla could answer, he added, “What you told Natalie before, maybe it applies to the Zahn family. Natalie’s biological father came from the Zahn family. I’ve already investigated this far. Isn’t it about time you stopped hiding the truth?”

Marla responded, “Joseph, I don’t know about this. I called because I want you to save my family. Please!”

“If you have the Zahn family backing you, you should beg Jenton’s Miracle Doctor, Jenna, instead,” stated Joseph.

With that, Joseph ended the call. He found Marla selfish and hypocritical. Her own family was poisoned, and they needed his medical skills. Yet, she was still protecting the secret of Natalie’s biological father. What kind of game was she playing?

After thinking for a moment, Joseph called Jenna. “Jenton’s Miracle Doctor, I think it’s time you dropped this title. You’re just an average doctor.”

Jenna replied, “Joseph, don’t think childish insults like that will get under my skin. I know how capable I am. I’m no worse than you.”

Joseph sneered. “I know what the Zahn medical sect is most proud of. You take other people’s medical knowledge by force and claim it as your own. You’re nothing but thieves who don’t even recognize theft as a crime.”

Jenna raised her voice. “Don’t talk nonsense! James Gould lost the bet and willingly handed over the Gould family’s medical books. According to the rules of this industry, they forfeited the right to use them afterward.”

Joseph laughed. “So, I guessed right. The Gould family really got the short end of the stick.”

In truth, Joseph had only been testing Jenna. He hadn’t expected her to reveal the answer herself.

Jenna was furious. “What else do you want to say? Hurry up. I’m busy.”
