No sooner had Jenna left than Dolly came looking for Joseph. She wanted to pitch Joseph a business proposition. Someone at the sanatorium had caught wind of his theory of extending life through blood transfusions and wanted to try it.

Joseph looked over the man’s file. He was 60 years old and worth over a hundred million dollars. He wasn’t one of Jenton’s biggest tycoons, but he was certainly wealthy.

The old man wasn’t suffering from any serious disease. His organs had simply deteriorated with age, which forced him into early retirement and life in the sanatorium.

Now that he’d heard that an exchange transfusion might let him live longer, he wanted to try it.

The donor would be his illegitimate son, who had just turned 18, the youngest and closest direct blood relative the man had.

The illegitimate son was still in high school and was set to take his SAT in June. Being born out of wedlock, he had a really hard life.

His mother had suffered constant harassment and abuse from the man’s family, to the point where she could barely find any decent work.

In exchange for the blood, the illegitimate son would receive a sizable payment from the old man that would not only be enough to cover his university tuition but also turn his and his mother’s lives around.

Joseph asked Dolly, “What do you think? Should I take this job?”

“Take it. Might as well make the best of it,” Dolly said coolly.

“Then make the arrangements. Once everything’s prepped, I’ll go in and do the procedure.”

Joseph knew that once a wealthy man had set his mind on something like this, it was happening one way or another. If the man didn’t come to Joseph, he’d simply find some other doctor. The only difference was that Joseph’s skills offered the best chance of success.

And the fact that Dolly came to Joseph personally meant she wanted this done. Since Joseph still needed her help, he didn’t have the option to say no anyway.

The two of them worked out the treatment plan and kept everything strictly confidential.

At one point, Joseph met the mother and son. The woman was only 40 years old, yet her hair had already turned

gray.

She had a bunch of hidden injuries from being beaten by the old man’s legitimate wife and children, who feared she’d fight for a share of the inheritance. As for the young man, he was as skinny as a rail and looked severely malnourished.

What a tragic pair… Joseph sighed inwardly, but he respected their decision. This was simply the best and quickest way for the mother and son to change their fates.

That weekend, Joseph secretly carried out the first stage of the blood-exchange procedure. After that, he closely monitored the elderly man’s and the young man’s vital signs.

By the end of all three stages, the old man’s health markers had genuinely improved.
