Everyone present was stunned by Jonas’ outburst, and the room fell into a brief silence.

However, Joseph couldn’t care less about him. He opened the door and walked right out. Did he have to stay just because Jonas said so? Who did Jonas think he was?

Joseph got into the elevator and headed down. But he was stopped by the security guards at the entrance.

“Dr. Hart, you can’t leave without our director’s permission!”

“Dr. Hart, please cooperate with us.”

Upon hearing that, Joseph questioned, “Why should I cooperate with you? Is your job more important than my time? I still have a few patients waiting for me in my department!”

When the guards still refused to budge, Joseph didn’t humor them. He simply headed outside.

He had a car waiting for him outside to take him back to the hospital.

Right then, his phone rang again. It was Cora. “Honey, I heard what happened at the Traditional Medicine Center. You can’t just act out like that! Go back now and join the treatment team. If you can wake Mr. Towne Senior up, no one will make things difficult for you.”

“Oh, really? Then tell me. How exactly are you people going to make things difficult for me?”

“They’re already talking about suspending you. If that happens, you won’t be able to stay at Jenton University Hospital anymore. Since you’re my husband, they told me about this and asked me to persuade you to go back. Can you just listen to me for once?”

“Then I’ll just wait for the higher-ups to officially suspend me.”

Joseph wasn’t about to listen to a single word Cora said.

Until the official notice came down, he was still a doctor, and he would continue doing everything he could to save his patients.

However, when he came out of the emergency room, he ran into Dave.

From the conflicted look on Dave’s face, Joseph knew the higher-ups had already pressured the hospital.

Sure enough, Dave said, “Joseph, about what happened at the Traditional Medicine Center, were you being serious back there?”

“You weren’t there. You don’t know what they said. They wanted to pin everything on me. They said if I couldn’t save the patient, then I was committing murder.

“So why the hell’would I still stick around? So are you here to have me hand over my work?” Joseph asked.

“The higher-ups want you suspended and off the premises, Mason suggests you take some time off for now. Once the situation cools down, you can come back to work. Of course, you’re welcome to come to the hospital anytime,” Dave said tactfully.

The actual order he’d received was to fire Joseph on the spot, but he didn’t have the guts to tell Joseph that.

“Fine. I’ll follow the arrangements from above.”

Joseph took off his white coat and packed up his personal belongings. He then summoned Paige and the other

After that, he swung by Kenneth’s room, told him he’d been suspended, and made arrangements to discharge Kenneth early.

Without another word, he walked out of the hospital.

Out on the highway leaving Jenton, Joseph received another call from Cora. “Honey, someone told me you got on the highway. Where are you going?”

“You people got what you wanted. Since I can no longer remain at Jenton University Hospital, I’m out of your hair. Now you can freely indulge yourselves,” Joseph replied.
