Marie smiled faintly. “You can discuss that with Yelena. My old bones aren’t suited for running around anymore.”

She could tell Joseph intended to make a move. And if their family refused to support him, he would likely stop treating her.

Yelena shrugged. “We haven’t really started working together yet. Our cooperation is limited to medicine for now, so I don’t really have any thoughts.”

Marie continued, “Then what do you think about him as a person?”

Yelena replied, “He’s incredibly difficult to get along with, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s an outstanding man. His looks are decent, and he acts quite cultured. His character is admirable as well. If he and I weren’t already married, I would have gone for him. I’d even ask all of you to let me marry him.”

Marie raised an eyebrow. “Since you can’t have children with your husband, and he’s agreed to let you have one with another man, why don’t you just have Joseph’s child?”
