Chapter 350
Joseph didn’t tell Cora about any of it. In fact, he didn’t even want to speak to her anymore. So, he asked her to leave.
Reluctant as she was, Cora knew staying would change nothing, so she left.
Joseph rested for the night. He woke up before dawn and did some exercises before he started reading.
Belinda arrived at his office before sunrise. Now that Jonas had become the head of the family and was occupied with dealing with the outsiders, he no longer had the time or energy to keep Belinda under control.
Belinda asked, “Do you have any staff quarters here? I’d love to move in. I feel much safer when I’m with you.”
Joseph replied, “There are employee dormitories, but they’re completely unfurnished. They’re not fit to live in. Besides, it wouldn’t be appropriate for you to stay here.”
He just wanted the peace of staying alone. On top of that, he wasn’t that familiar with Belinda.
He changed the topic, “Jonas is stretched too thin to bother with you now. Wallace is also in a weakened state after his blood transfusion, so he won’t come after you either. Both the Townes and the Zahns are busy dealing with the outsiders. They won’t be able to spare you any attention. You’re perfectly safe.”
Belinda said, “Speaking of the outsiders, I’m actually worried they’ll come after me.”
Joseph chuckled. “They won’t do anything to you. You’ve already lost all your value. After Jonas and Wallace nearly beat you to death, you’ve lost all your standing within the family.”
Belinda asked bitterly, “So because I no longer have any status in the Towne family, I’m useless to you now, too, right?”
Joseph looked at her. “Then tell me, what value do you still have? Can you burn down the Towne family’s headquarters, or set Emerald Mountain ablaze?”
Belinda sighed. “I can’t, and I wouldn’t dare.”
She really didn’t have the ability to do that anymore. Before, she’d secretly borrowed the Towne family’s resources. Jonas had uncovered everything and confiscated them all. Now she wasn’t even authorized to access those assets.
Joseph chuckled softly.
Belinda frowned. “What’s so funny? Are you looking down on me?”
Joseph said, “Let’s be honest, even if I do look down on you, you can’t exactly argue with me, can you? What do you have left to be proud of?”
Belinda snorted coldly. “I didn’t expect you to be such a snobbish person.”
But her protest lacked conviction. She knew perfectly well what kind of situation she was in.
Joseph poured Belinda a cup of tea. “You still have a way out. If the Towne family survives this crisis instead of ending up like the Ashmores, then replace Jonas. Take control of the Townes yourself. Once you’re in charge, no one will dare look down on you again.”
Belinda was shocked. “Me? Take control of the Townes?”
A spark of excitement flickered in her eyes.

Joseph said, “Originally, you had to rely on Barry. If you’d married him and secured a high position within the Zahn family, you would’ve naturally taken over the Towne family. But unless Barry could outlive Owen, there was no way he would inherit the Zahn family. So, that path was closed off.
“Now that these outsiders have thrown Jenton into turmoil, you have another chance. Let me make this clear. If you miss this opportunity, you won’t get a third chance. And if you don’t step forward, the Towne family will be wiped out.”
