A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 354

Chapter 354

Cora went straight to Joseph’s place. When she arrived, she saw that the main gate was locked and Joseph’s car was parked right inside the compound, blocking the entrance. Even if she rammed the gate open, she still wouldn’t be able to get her car in.

She tried calling him again, but his phone was still off.

She muttered to herself, “Are you seriously asleep? Women are showing up at my office demanding I divorce you, and you’re in there sleeping like a baby?”

Unable to vent her frustration, she had no choice but to wait for him to turn his phone back on.

About an hour later, just as the worst of her anger began to subside, the gate slid open automatically. A few moments later, Joseph came downstairs.

At almost the same time, a food delivery driver arrived. Joseph collected the takeout, and Cora hurried after him.

Back in his office, Joseph picked up a pillow and blanket from the couch. It was obvious he had just been sleeping there.

There was only one meal container. Joseph glanced at Cora and asked, “Want some?”

“Of course I do,” Cora said, not bothering to be polite. “You made me wait outside for a whole hour. I’m furious.”

She grabbed the container and practically wolfed the food down.

Joseph was left temporarily speechless. He then ordered another meal on his phone and went to wash up. so important that you waited out there for an hour? Is someone in your family sick?”

“What’s

Cora replied, “Yes, me. I’m sick.”

Joseph scoffed. “That’s something I can’t cure. Just go home and start planning the funeral.” 1

Cora glared at him. “Did you really have to put it like that?”

She threw away the empty container, walked back over, and sat down across from him. “Honey, something happened. It’s incredibly important to both of us, and we need to face it together.”

Joseph looked at her, puzzled. What could possibly be so important that they needed to face it together?

When he didn’t bother asking for details, Cora couldn’t help but wonder if he’d truly reached the point where nothing she said mattered to him anymore.

Stung by his silence, she cut straight to the chase. “A woman came to see me today. She claims she’s pregnant with your child. She told me to hurry up and divorce you so she can marry you.”

Joseph’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. Grace was in Croma, but even if she were here, she wouldn’t go looking for Cora. Meanwhile, Lacey and the massage therapist were both Cora’s subordinates; neither of them would ever dare confront Cora, let alone claim to be carrying his child.

This meant Cora was just testing him. And frankly, he couldn’t care less.

At his complete lack of a reaction, Cora frowned. “Are you not going to say anything?”

Joseph shrugged. “What do you expect me to say?”

Cora pressed, “Will you choose that woman or me?”

Joseph sneered. “Do you even have to ask? If she is actually carrying my child, I’d obviously choose her. We’re getting a divorce anyway. What’s the point of choosing you?”

“You…” Cora suddenly felt as though all her probing had been entirely pointless. Joseph simply didn’t care about her anymore.

The realization left her feeling utterly defeated.

Trying a different angle, Cora said, “Her name is Peyton Roth. Did you really sleep with her?”
