A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 373

Chapter 373

Joseph shoved Cora’s hand away. “I am divorcing you, and yes, I’ll find someone else. I’m going to marry a younger woman! I’ll mock you for the rest of your life for having three kids with your lover, Cora!”

He let out a harsh, self-deprecating laugh. “I even laugh at myself for being kept in the dark for so long! I’m an idiot. No, I’m worse than an idiot!”

“You… How could you say that? No one knows what tomorrow will bring. You can’t pin Grace’s death on me. And a younger woman? In your dreams! You’re mine. You’re my husband, and I’ll never let you be with anyone else!”

Cora assumed Joseph was just taking his grief and resentment over Grace out on her, turning her into his personal scapegoat. Refusing to put up with it, she wanted to snap him back to reality.

“We’re getting divorced anyway, so what do you care? I’m becoming more convinced by the day that Natalie, Selena, and Kimberly’s biological father is a member of the Zahn family. You can deny it all you want right now, but one day, the truth will come out.”

“I’ve never betrayed you, and I have nothing to hide. Investigate all you like. I’m not afraid!” Cora shot back, though a flicker of surprise crossed her mind. How could he accuse her like that? Looking into his icy, venomous eyes, she realized no amount of explaining would change his mind right now.

“Don’t act like you’re completely innocent, Cora. Natalie and the other two aren’t my daughters. The evidence is irrefutable. The rest of the shameful things you did behind my back will come to light soon enough. Let’s see if you can keep up this denial then!”

“I didn’t do anything!” Cora hissed, scowling.

It was maddeningly difficult to explain away the paternity test results, since she couldn’t dispute the scientific data, but she still had no clue where the mix-up had occurred. Unable to handle his accusations any longer, she stormed out in a rage.

The moment she got into her car, she received a call from Jonas. “You can’t even take care of your own mess right now. Why are you calling me? I told you I’m not getting involved in your family drama—”
