“Everyone simply pitched in! I didn’t do much.” Joseph brushed it off. He was never attached to material things.

Jenson even brought Joseph another set of medical records, wanting to hear his opinion. That was the real reason

he had come.

The medical records belonged to Jenson’s mentor, who was 50 years old. He used to be a martial arts expert, but after falling ill five years ago, he became a total weakling.

Having experienced Joseph’s capabilities firsthand, Jenson knew how remarkable Joseph’s medical expertise was. If Joseph could somehow cure his mentor, it would be a massive win-win for everyone involved.

Reviewing the charts, Joseph could instantly tell the mentor had been poisoned, though the exact toxin remained a mystery. He informed Jenson that he would need to examine the patient in person before committing to a treatment plan.

Refusing to leave his clinic to make a house call, Joseph instructed Jenson to have his mentor brought directly to

him.

Over the next two days, Joseph split his time evenly between Jenson’s rehabilitation and Richard’s ongoing

recovery.

Joseph even learned from Cindy that three more Zahns died from poisoning despite efforts to save them, but the Snows weren’t responsible. However, a quick conversation with Kenneth revealed the sinister truth.

An outsider, well-versed in obscure toxins, had caught wind of Owen’s legendary longevity secrets. The individual had paid Owen a hostile visit, demanding the complete life-extension formula and the specialized pills.

When negotiations inevitably collapsed, violence erupted. The three dead Zahns were a brutal warning shot from the outsider to the rest of the family.

The Zahns did not have lackeys as the Townes did. In addition, Owen and the older members of the family had extended their lifespans through blood transfusion techniques, which came at the expense of the younger Zahns.

If they kept this up, the Zahns would eventually grow weaker and fall into decline. That explanation made perfect sense to Joseph.

After seeing Jenson off, Joseph realized he was completely worn out and decided to get some rest. He certainly didn’t expect Cora to burst through his doors again. She arrived in a frantic rush, her face pale with worry.

“Why didn’t you’turn on your phone? It’s an emergency! Come home with me now. Nat and the others are in trouble.”

Joseph’s heart clenched with worry for Natalie, Selena, and Kimberly, but he quickly steeled himself. He reminded himself they weren’t his daughters, but someone else’s bastards.

He took out a bottle of perfume and set it on the table, asking calmly, “What do you want this time?”

“What’s with your attitude? Nat and the others are sick, and you refuse to come back with me to examine and treat them. You’re acting like this has absolutely nothing to do with you. How can you be so utterly heartless?” Cora snapped, looking deeply offended.
