Joseph thought, “Mary is someone I despise, yet Cora hired Mary? So, Cora is pretending to agree with me while doing the opposite.”

Joseph studied Mary for a moment but didn’t greet her. Instead, he turned his attention to Natalie, who had just woken up.

Natalie remained silent. She knew that Joseph had deliberately done something to her body, leaving her groggy every day. Her health was now entirely in his hands, making it impossible for her to feel at ease.

“Dad, what are you doing here?” Selena asked, greeting Joseph first. She knew why he had intentionally made them sick, but she was willing to cooperate.

Of the three children, only Kimberly was still too young to understand the situation. She was still fast asleep.

Joseph answered, “I came to check on you. I was worried Cora might get clever and start bringing in random doctors.”

Joseph walked over to Selena first, feeling her pulse before examining her arm. There were no signs that blood had been drawn.

It was strange. After so many days of treatment, why was Selena still anemic?

Joseph was confused. Then, he checked Natalie and Kimberly. All of them were suffering from severe anemia.

Joseph had three of them wash up. After that, he left the ward to retrieve their treatment logs. Once he reviewed the treatment logs, he called Jenna.

“Jenna, you’re a terrible doctor. You knew Natalie and the others were anemic, yet you continued to draw their blood?” Joseph began.

“Don’t make things up. I gave them blood transfusions already. Not only that, but I also used my medical sect’s own methods to replenish their blood. Are you saying that they’re still anemic?” Jenna replied.

Jenna was sleeping when she received the call. Nonetheless, Joseph’s question didn’t make her angry.

“If you can’t even diagnose anemia correctly, you shouldn’t be a doctor!” Joseph snapped before ending the call.

A while later, Cora and her bodyguards arrived. She checked on her daughters first. After learning that Joseph had only taken their pulses without doing anything else, she let out a sigh of relief.

Joseph gestured for Cora to step outside. Before she could speak, he beat her to it. “The doctors you hired aren’t much better. You still couldn’t protect Natalie and the others. Someone has been drawing their blood.”

Cora denied. “That’s impossible. My people have been watching them around the clock. There’s no way anyone could have taken their blood.”

Joseph questioned, “Do you think it’s impossible for the culprit to be one of your own people? Cora, if you keep letting your arrogance blind you, you’ll end up paying a price you won’t be able to bear.”

Seeing that Cora was still as overconfident as ever, Joseph stopped wasting his breath.

Shortly afterward, Jenna arrived. After examining the children, she discovered that they were actually anemic. She was confused.

Jenna asked, “Joseph, look at my treatment logs. They shouldn’t still be anemic. What’s going on?”
