A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 389

Chapter 389

What Lexi never imagined was that Joseph was no longer the man he used to be. He wasn’t someone easy to push around anymore.

She would never have dreamed that instead of sitting back, he would make the first move and deliver an enormous surprise to her.

After Cora had come to see Joseph the night before, he had already grown dissatisfied with Lexi and her family Although he hadn’t personally dealt with everyone in the group, Yelena and Peyton did as he said. They targeted the Zahn family.

Now that Lexi had interfered in Joseph’s relationship with Cora and had even set her sights on him, he had no choice but to set things straight.

Earlier that day, Joseph had already hinted to Cindy that it was time to make a move against Lexi. He also had a few people working for him. That night, they took down Lexi’s older brother, Jonathan Browns.

Jonathan had taken several of his men to spend the evening in the Croma faction’s territory. He brought a woman from another state back to his villa for the night.

Early in the morning, he was shaken awake. The moment he opened his eyes, he realized he had fallen into Joseph’s hands. He tried to move, but his limbs refused to obey him. No matter how hard he struggled, his body wouldn’t respond.

Twisting his neck with great effort, he saw needles embedded in his shoulder. When he forced his head up a little further, he found more needles inserted around his thighs and knees.

The woman whom he brought home the night before lay beside him. She had needles in her head and remained completely motionless, sleeping deeply.

Joseph and two others had slipped into the villa without Jonathan noticing a thing. Jonathan glared at Joseph and asked, “Do you have any idea who I am?”

Joseph said, “Lexi has come looking for me twice, saying that she wants to marry me. How could I not know who you are? You’re younger than I am, so addressing you politely would feel a little strange. I guess we’re just not meant to be family.”

While saying that, Joseph took out another needle and twisted it into Jonathan’s head. Jonathan questioned, ” What are you doing to me?”

Joseph answered, “Relax. We don’t have any personal grudge, so I have no intention of harming you. You guys came to Jenton and haven’t accomplished anything useful.

“You’re occupying the field without actually playing the game. I’m not happy about that, so I had no choice but to ask you for a small favor.”

Joseph continued inserting the needles and added, “After this, you’ll begin experiencing all kinds of symptoms that resemble poisoning. When that happens, insist that the Zahn family is responsible.

“Have your family send someone important to the Zahn family to demand justice. In one or two months, I’ll end your suffering. If you don’t do as I say, though, I won’t treat you after two months. By then, you’ll wish you were dead.”

Jonathan was furious. “You know who I am, yet you still dare to do this to me?”

“I’m not harming you. I’ve never wanted to hurt anyone. I’m a doctor. My job is to save lives,” replied Joseph, but

his hands never stopped moving as he continued the acupuncture treatment.

As more needles went in, Jonathan found it increasingly difficult to speak. Eventually, he could only form a slurred word, “Zahn”.

After Joseph finished the acupuncture treatment, he observed Jonathan for a while before leaving the villa with

his men.

At sunrise, Joseph arrived at the Traditional Medicine Center tu check on Natalie and the others. Just as he reached the ward, a female bodyguard blocked his way, saying, “You can’t go in. Without Ms. Lowell’s permission, you aren’t allowed inside.”

Joseph asked, “I can’t enter?”

The female bodyguard insisted, looking at Joseph warily, “Yeah. Without Ms. Lowell’s permission, you can’t enter.
