Chapter 428
“A misunderstanding? Perhaps! After all, I never saw you sleep with Jonas or catch you two in bed together.
“But for someone like you, even if I showed you the evidence, would you admit it? Never! Jonas confessed that he slept with you, and he even used dirty tricks to drive me out of the hospital. That’s why he deserved to die.”
As Joseph watched Cora leave, his thoughts started churning. For a moment, he was overcome with misery.
Joseph then remembered the daughters he raised weren’t even his, and Cora had betrayed him for almost 20 years. Still, she didn’t show any remorse, refused to admit anything, and wouldn’t apologize. Instead, she kept trying to walk all over him, and that truly set him off.
Joseph had already neglected his career for almost two decades and was already past his prime. He no longer had the luxury of time to rebuild his career, one step at a time.
If someone looked down on him and tried to push him around, he would drag them down to his level.
“You have what I don’t, so you use your power to bully me. If I have nothing, and neither do you, then we’re equals.
“You think you can push me around? I won’t make it easy for you. The worst part is you wanted to strip me of everything, control me however you liked, and trample on my dignity. In that case, I’ll kill you for that!”
That was what Joseph thought, and he did exactly that because circumstances left him no choice.
Of course, Jonas died because he underestimated women. He didn’t leave Shirley a single cent, thinking she would be easy to control. In the end, she fought back, triggering his heart attack. He never saw it coming.
Jonas also hadn’t beaten Belinda to death. Now that she had risen back up, she would never let go of the chance to take revenge. She wouldn’t pass up the chance to kill him.
Joseph knew all that.
Not long after Cora left, Belinda came by. She looked around Joseph’s office and was a little disappointed to find no sign of a chaotic aftermath.
If Joseph and Cora had fallen out and filed for a divorce, that would have been the perfect outcome for Belinda.
Joseph had saved Belinda’s life. He even taught her how to seize control of the Towne family and arranged for Peyton and the others to cooperate with her.
