A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 430

Chapter 430

Marla wanted to continue waiting outside the clinic, but she received an emergency call from the hospital asking her to hurry over. The hospital needed the family’s consent before it could use a certain type of medication.

Marla entered the clinic again, but she still didn’t see Joseph and got thrown out again.

At that moment, Marla regretted everything. It was true that Joseph didn’t have a powerful background, and Cora had manipulated and deceived him. He was a doctor, but she couldn’t just summon him whenever she wanted.

Marla decided to return to the hospital first. Later, she would plead with Yara and ask her to speak to Joseph again.

As far as Joseph was concerned, someone like Marla was already dead to him. He had saved one of her family members back then, but she had burned bridges with him afterward, leaving him extremely disappointed.

Life and death were a part of life. Some people deserved to die.

After lunch, Joseph and Katie left the clinic and headed to the outskirts to continue treating the Snows. They only returned in the evening.

After they parted ways, Joseph went to spend the night at Kingsley Estate.

At 10:00 pm, Marla’s husband suffered a brain hemorrhage and insisted that Dr. Geller perform the surgery, but it failed. When she heard that her husband had fallen into a vegetative state, she instantly collapsed to the floor.

At 4:00 am, Marla was by her husband’s side in the ICU when she saw Yara arrive.

“Ms. Zahn, my husband may never wake up again. If you had gone to Joseph sooner, my husband might have been saved. It’s too late…”

“You’re overthinking things.” Yara gave Marla a quick glance. Without stopping, she walked toward another room in the ICU.

Marla followed her and realized the patient lying inside was Edmund. Mixed emotions washed over her-relief, tinged with a grim satisfaction.

Marla was relieved to learn that it wasn’t because Yara refused to ask Joseph for help. Edmund was also critically ill, so Yara had too much to handle.

Yet Marla was also satisfied to know that Yara was only human too. She had to face the pain of losing someone she loved. In the face of death, they were no equals.

Seeing Yara’s solemn expression and that she remained silent, Marla dared not utter a word or even ask a question. Since her husband wasn’t waking up anytime soon, she left the hospital when Yara did.
