Chapter 443
After returning to Jenna’s place, Joseph refused to let the matter drop. He kept pressing her for more information about the Zahn family.
She accidentally let something slip. The Zahn family maintained both family and sect records. When she didn’t want to talk anymore, he tackled her, pinned her arms, and started tickling the soles of her feet.
Jenna burst into uncontrollable laughter. Feeling utterly humiliated, she finally surrendered. She showed Joseph the family records she had secretly taken pictures of.
“Joseph, you’re shameless!” Jenna shouted.
Once Joseph released Jenna, she raised her hand to slap him across the face. However, the moment he shot her a warning look, her hand froze in midair. In the end, she lowered it unwillingly.
“If you would just cooperate, none of this would have happened. You behave honorably, I’ll behave honorably,” stated Joseph.
He had to be shameless. At such extraordinary times, extraordinary measures were necessary.
Jenna was at a loss for words. She had no way to deal with Joseph. When she received a call from Traditional Medicine Center, she quickly left.
Joseph reviewed everything that happened that day. He passed the license plate number of the sedan to Peyton and asked her to trace its whereabouts. Soon, she reported back that the car had just been sent out for maintenance. There was nothing useful.
Joseph then focused on another clue in Yara’s earlier conversation that Jenna had repeated. The Zahn family had a base dedicated to researching blood. There had to be a huge amount of illegally obtained research hidden there.
Joseph immediately reported the information to Patricia and had her interrogate the driver and the others again.
At the same time, he prepared a backup plan. If Yara managed to deceive the special task force, or if the special task force failed to dig any deeper, he would have his people destroy the base.
Yara had spent a long time developing those research results. She probably intended to present them to Owen. If her work could extend his life, she would become a major contributor and earn his favor, allowing her influence to rise.
