Chapter 458
Cora had invited Peyton out for two reasons. Aside from asking Peyton to invest in a project, Cora had a personal request. Cora wanted the treatment plan used on Wesley’s ALS.
Peyton found it strange. She asked, “What do you mean?”
Cora answered frankly, “I’m not trying to disrespect you or your father. Yara has been diagnosed with ALS. It’s still in the early stages. I’m not saying we’ll copy your father’s treatment exactly, but it could give the doctors valuable insight.”
Peyton asked, “Isn’t Yara trying to get her hands on your daughters? Why are you trying to save her?”
Joseph had instructed Peyton to target Yara, yet now, Cora wanted to protect Yara. The contradiction put Peytonin an awkward position.
Cora responded, “I can deal with her whenever I want. Right now, she can’t die. She has a project in her hands. If my family can acquire it, we can stop this year’s financial losses. Jenton is going through major changes right now.
“If we can weather this storm, we’ll come out even stronger. Your father’s treatment plan will eventually become known anyway. Someone else will get all the credit. If you give it to me first, we can work together, and everyone benefits.”
Peyton smiled. “What if I work directly with Yara?”
Cora nodded and gave Peyton a thumbs up. “That’s an excellent idea. Without a middleman taking a cut, you’ll receive all the profits. Don’t forget, though. Your father’s treatment came from my husband.
“If you work with Yara directly, you’ll be openly opposing him. Once that happens, he won’t continue treating your father. He probably won’t welcome your family in Jenton anymore either.”
Peyton responded, “You know that this treatment plan belongs to Joseph, yet you’re asking us to hand it over. Isn’t that the same as asking us to go against him? Besides, aren’t you worried he’ll settle both old and new scores with you since you’re opposing him?”
Confidently, Cora said, “I can convince him. Give me the treatment plan first. I’ll meet up with my husband later and talk to him.”
After thinking it over, Peyton handed Joseph’s prescription to Cora. However, Cora wasn’t satisfied. She questioned, “Is this all? You’re trying to fool me, aren’t you? This is an ALS treatment. Are you telling me that these few medicines are enough?”
Peyton shrugged. “If you don’t believe me, ask Joseph yourself. You can have him give you the complete treatment. In fact, you can ask him to treat Yara.”
Cora had no choice but to leave it at that. After lunch, she went to find Joseph. She arrived at his company just as his car was pulling up. She saw him carrying several takeout containers as he got out of the car. The containers were from the place she had just eaten.
Cora asked, “You haven’t had lunch yet?”
Joseph answered, “These are leftovers. That takes care of dinner too. Are you here to agree to the divorce?”
Joseph didn’t welcome Cora at all.
Cora replied, “I’m not divorcing you. I came because I need to talk to you. Let’s go upstairs.”

Of course, Cora wouldn’t leave. She followed Joseph up. She watched him put the food into the refrigerator before taking out a pillow. Then, he asked, “What is it? Say what you came to say, then leave. I want to take a nap.”
Cora asked, “Have you heard about Yara’s situation?”
Joseph answered, “She has ALS. She has done enough evil to deserve this.”
