A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 469

Chapter 469

It didn’t take long for five capable bodyguards, three women and two men, to arrive in front of Joseph.

“Did Cora send you here to beat me up? Come at me then.”

As Joseph glanced at the five of them, he recognized them right away. They were Lowell family bodyguards. Without a doubt, Cora was the one who sent them.

The bodyguards hadn’t expected Joseph to be completely unfazed while casually sipping his coffee. They wanted/ nothing more than to beat him up, but since he was still Cora’s husband, they couldn’t just attack him unless they absolutely had to.

While they waited for Cora’s order, someone knocked on Cora’s car window. It was Yelena. At the same time, two of Yelena’s men dropped spike strips in front of and behind Cora’s car.

Another guy stood on the other side with a sledgehammer, ready to smash the window at any second.

Cora was shocked. She rolled the window down a crack and snapped, “What the hell are you doing?”

Yelena let out a sneer. “If your people dare lay a hand on Joseph, then I’ll deal with you. Joseph cares about you. He can’t bring himself to hurt you, and he treats you like treasure. But I won’t.

“With Joseph’s incredible medical skills, don’t you think he’ll be able to bring you back from the dead if I beat you within an inch of your life?”

“You’re standing up for him? Who do you think you are?”

Cora was horrified to know that Yelena was stepping in to defend Joseph.

“Does everything I do need a reason? Then what was your excuse for treating Joseph the way you did?” Yelena shot back.

She started counting down, threatening to attack Cora if her bodyguards didn’t leave in ten seconds.

“Fine, you win this round.”

Cora hadn’t expected to be ambushed like this, or she would’ve brought more guards for herself. She had no choice but to call off the people harassing Joseph.
