Chapter 476
Before long, Joseph saw Cora and Belinda arrive at the hospital together. They tried to visit Skylar, only to be turned away immediately. After that, they went to find Yara, who was equally unwilling to let either of them see him.
Joseph didn’t know what the three women had discussed, but when Cora and Belinda finally teft, both women’s expressions were grim. Whatever negotiations had taken place had clearly ended badly.
Like an outsider looking in, Joseph simply watched in silence.
That night, Jenna brought Joseph home at about 10:00 pm. Only when she was sure that Joseph had no intention of sneaking out to cause trouble did she finally relax.
The night passed peacefully.
The next morning, Joseph accompanied Jenna on her ward rounds. When they entered Yara’s room, they found her breakfast all over the floor.
Yara had tried to get out of bed and walk on her own. In the end, she couldn’t even stand properly and fell, knocking over everything on the bedside table in the process.
The fall had only worsened her condition.
“Are you people from the medical sect even good for anything? Why haven’t you fixed my legs yet?” Yara snapped at Jenna and
the medical staff.
Other than offering words of comfort, there was little Jenna could do.
Yara demanded, “Find Joseph and make him treat me.”
Treat her? As if Joseph would do that. He merely remained silent the whole time.
Jenna understood exactly what Joseph was thinking and could only continue trying to calm Yara down. Inwardly, she was already considering asking one of the Zahn medical sect’s elders or a senior member of the Zahn family to intervene and calm
Yara down.
After Yara vented her anger, however, nothing changed. All she could do was continue cursing.
When administering her medication, Jenna quietly added a mild sedative, allowing Yara to finally drift off to sleep.
The rest of the ward rounds passed uneventfully, with Joseph remaining nothing more than an observer.
Skylar’s condition had shown little improvement. He still needed complete bed rest while he recovered.
Meanwhile, Joseph had already begun plotting how to get Skylar out of the hospital and deliver him directly into Cora’s hands.
The day before, Cora had obtained Skylar’s blood sample and sent it for paternity testing. The preliminary results had already come back, confirming a biological relationship. Even so, Joseph was certain she wouldn’t believe it.
She would probably wait for the final report in three days, which was more accurate.
He’d love to see how she explained herself when that happened.
Back in the office, Jenna let out a weary sigh. Exhausted, she asked Joseph to massage her shoulders.
Joseph happily obliged. However, while he massaged her shoulders, his wandering hands began taking liberties elsewhere, forcing Jenna to immediately push him away and swear never to make such a request again.
Then she asked, “What are we supposed to do about Yara’s condition?”
Joseph replied calmly, “I’ve reviewed all of her medical records. Tell her to prepare herself for amputation. If you don’t want to say it, I’ll do it myself.”
