Chapter 487
When they arrived at the emergency room, Joseph wasn’t even qualified to enter. Reuben was present, and the old man merely said that unauthorized personnel were not allowed inside, then refused Joseph
entry.
There was nothing Jenna could do about it. Even if she tried her best, looking at Edmund’s rapidly deteriorating vital signs, she wasn’t confident at all.
Outside, Yara arrived only to be stopped at the doors of the emergency room as well. After waiting a few minutes, she ordered Joseph to return to her room because she had questions to ask.
Joseph spoke first. “Your brother’s bodyguard just warned me not to get close to you or say anything inappropriate. Please don’t make things difficult for me.”
“Do you think you can leave if I don’t let you?” Yara replied.
She told Joseph to step outside, but deliberately didn’t order the bodyguards at the door to let him go. When Joseph returned to the room, she looked rather pleased with herself. Her lips were curled up into a teasing smile.
Toying with others like this was truly satisfying, even if it was someone as insignificant as Joseph.
Joseph closed the door and asked, “What do you want to know? Just ask away.”
With only two of them in the room, Yara was entirely at his mercy. If he wanted her dead, there was nothing that could stop him. But he wasn’t in any hurry. He wanted Yara and Skylar to suffer slowly and savor every bit of their misery.
“What’s your price this time? “Yara asked with a teasing look in her eyes.
Joseph smiled. “I wouldn’t dare. Being able to serve you is the greatest blessing that could ever be bestowed upon me. I’d be honored.”
Unfortunately, with his ugly features and his protruding jaw, his smile was more disturbing than flattering.
Yara said smugly, “You’re quite a good lapdog, aren’t you? No wonder Jenna chose you. If I didn’t respect Jenna, I’d have stolen you away from her already.”
There was just something Yara particularly enjoyed about watching men submit themselves to her.
“Well, that would cost extra,” Joseph replied shamelessly.
Yara said, “Even Jenna listens to me. If you’re her lapdog, you should naturally listen to me as well. If you can’t understand the rules around here, it won’t just be one finger that gets broken next time. It’ll be one of your limbs.”
Joseph answered, “If that’s the case, then all you’ll ever hear are flattering words and empty praise. I would be no exception. Is that really what you want?”

“I guess you have some backbone left.” Yara found herself viewing Joseph in a slightly better light.
After a pause, she asked, “You saw Edmund earlier as well. Do you think he’ll make it through tonight?”
“He will. But as for tomorrow night…” Joseph coughed lightly. He made it obvious that Edmund was going to die.
“Tomorrow night…” A complicated expression flashed across Yara’s face. Sadness, indifference, vengeance, regret, self-pity, and reluctance were all evident.
After all, Edmund was her father. She owed all her success to him, and all her failures as well.
Joseph continued, “There is a way to save him. I’m sure Reuben and the others are discussing it now. Would you like to hear it?”
Yara frowned. “Damn it! Stop keeping me in suspense. Keep talking like that, and I’ll have someone knock all your teeth out. Just spit it out!”
Joseph replied calmly, “Don’t be so agitated. Your condition requires you to remain calm. The method they’re discussing is to immediately administer one of your family’s miracle pills while simultaneously giving him a blood transfusion. Or more accurately, a complete blood exchange.
“The best option would be blood from a direct relative. Then, using your family’s techniques to stimulate the fresh blood and the medicinal pill to merge, it may be possible to reactivate his body’s latent vitality
