“You’re so negative! While you’re here, don’t cause any trouble that I can’t handle,” Jenna said helplessly.

Joseph left the office and stepped into the elevator, only to find Reuben inside. The old man looked displeased and immediately told Joseph to get out.

Joseph naturally ignored him and politely asked, “Sir, I don’t believe there’s any grudge between us, nor have I ever offended you. Why are you so hostile toward me?”

Reuben sneered. “You filthy nobody, you think you’re worthy of my hostility? I’m telling you to get out for your own good. If I were truly targeting you, you’d disappear from Jenton before you knew it. You’d regret ever being born into this world. Who do you think you are?”

Joseph sighed. “Fine, you’re powerful. I can’t afford to offend you, but I can certainly avoid you.”

Joseph stepped out and let Reuben go down first. Keeping a low profile and enduring the humiliation was still his priority for now. Even so, he had already added the old man to his blacklist. The moment an opportunity presented itself, he would make Reuben pay.

Not long after, Joseph received some good news. Luke’s housekeeper came looking for him and discreetly asked if they could speak in private.

Once they were in a secluded spot, she handed Joseph a bag of fruit. Hidden inside was an envelope

stuffed with cash.

Seeing the glow on her face, Joseph asked, “Judging by how happy you look, I’m guessing things between you and Luke worked out?”

She blushed slightly. “These past few days, he’s been clinging to me nonstop. That naughty old man even proposed and asked me to marry him.”

Joseph smiled. “Then congratulations are in order. I’ll gladly accept your fruit, then.”

The housekeeper nodded. “As you should. I hope things work out between you and Ms. Jenna soon as well. You must be busy, so I’ll head back to take care of him.”

The housekeeper didn’t dare linger. She quickly excused herself, afraid of attracting attention.

After she left, Joseph returned to his dormitory and contacted Katie. He learned that people were watching her around the clock, waiting for him to show himself.

He didn’t even need to try to figure out who those people were, or who was among them.

Joseph warned her to be careful and told her to call the police if anything felt wrong.

Katie replied, “I’m fine. I can protect myself. You should worry more about your own safety.”

Joseph said casually, “I’ll be fine. I’m taking some time away anyway. When I come back, the worst thing they’ll do is ask me to treat their patients. It’s not much of a loss for me.”
