A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 489

Chapter 489

Joseph lingered around the nurses’ station. It wasn’t long before he saw a housekeeper wheel Yara out of her hospital room and into Skylar’s.

The short-haired woman then stepped out, wearing sunglasses and high-end clothes. She had a flawless figure.

It wasn’t convenient for Joseph to approach her, but he still secretly took a photo of her and had someone follow her. Once he found out who she was, he would know what to do next.

Once he finished giving instructions, the head nurse came over and asked him to go into Skylar’s hospital room.

Joseph didn’t even have to think about it. Yara had definitely been talking about him behind his back.

After deleting the photos and related messages on his phone, he walked into Skylar’s room.

Both Skylar and Yara were inside. Since they both looked down on him, they carried themselves with an air of superiority.

The siblings asked Joseph to go over Edmund’s condition and treatment plan. He repeated what he had already told Yara and left nothing out.

Once Joseph finished, Skylar asked, “You’re Henry Jebb, aren’t you? You come from an ordinary background. How do you know so much? Who are you really?”

Joseph replied, “Actually, patients like you don’t understand the position doctors are in. Doctors can only tell patients so much.

“Sometimes, to avoid saying the wrong thing, doctors will only mention what they’re certain of and what carries zero risk. The same goes for treatment. They won’t take an aggressive approach.

“Everything I told you just now, and everything I told you before, was based on the case discussions Jenna had with the others about your condition. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Jenna yourself.”

“I’ll definitely check with her. If what she tells me is different from what you said, and you can’t explain yourself, I’ll make sure you pay dearly.”

Skylar couldn’t find any flaws in Joseph’s explanation, but he still warned him.

“Don’t do that. Even if you confront Jenna about it, she won’t admit it. She’s also afraid something might go wrong too.

“Jenna’s financially supporting me now. She’s keeping me fed and clothed, so I don’t want to offend her.” Joseph’s voice sounded dejected and timid.

“We won’t make things hard for you, but from now on, you must tell us the truth!” Yara said.

“Of course!” Joseph said quickly.

“You’re dismissed!” Yara waved her hand, signaling for him to leave the room. To her, he was still useful, so she didn’t want Skylar to scare him off.

Joseph knew Yara and Skylar would definitely discuss how to track him down. They might even plan how to control him once they found him, so that he would treat them.

He thought to himself. “What a pity. I’m right in front of you. I’m going to mess with you, so I hope you’re strong enough to take it…”

Joseph returned to the nurses’ station. It wasn’t long before Jenna walked over and gestured for him to return to her office.

Jenna said, “I heard you went to Yara’s and Skylar’s hospital rooms again. You’re walking a tightrope here.

“Do you have a death wish? You’re going to drag me down too.”

“That’s true. The doctors and nurses in the department think you’re way out of my league,” Joseph replied.

Despite his ugly appearance, he still managed to become the boyfriend of a beautiful woman like Jenna. He could be seen out with her as a couple.

The male colleagues in the department were green with envy. Even though the female colleagues looked down on his appearance, they were still curious about what was so special about him.

To put it simply, Joseph had no friends in the department. Still, everyone remained polite to him because of Jenna. “Let them talk. We have nothing to hide!” Jenna’s cheeks flushed slightly. Still, she chose not to look into why Joseph had entered Yara and the others’ rooms.
