Chapter 490
Back when Joseph had been kept in the dark, Skylar was already having an affair with Cora. Maybe Skylar thought he’d covered his tracks, but someone else definitely knew. 1
Now that Joseph saw the world for what it really was, the whole game felt infinitely more interesting. Honest, upright people always ended up getting screwed. The real winners were the schemers willing to play dirty.
Joseph didn’t want to get involved with Skylar and Yara, so he countered with a question. “How’s Edmund doing?”
“He’s not doing well at all! But Reuben and the others have another plan and intend to give it a go,
“As expected. Your medical sect really does have guts, but I do hope you’ll stop doing things that defy human
nature.
“After all, you’re a doctor. You should only do good things,” Joseph said. Without a doubt, the Zahn medical sect would definitely use the Vitality Pill combined with the exchange transfusion method on Edmund.
“Do you really think I have a say in this? The higher-ups above me…” Jenna saw Joseph gesture for her to stop talking.
“Reuben’s here. I have to go now!” Joseph heard Reuben coughing outside. Without another word, he put on his mask and left the room.
As expected, he ran into Reuben outside. The old man looked at him coldly too, but since other medical staff were present, Reuben chose not to say anything.
In the early hours of the morning, Joseph realized Jenna and the others still hadn’t left. He knew something was up, so he stayed behind to observe.
A moment later, he saw someone deliver the plasma they had prepared beforehand. Sure enough, they were going to perform an exchange transfusion on Edmund.
Very few people were aware of the procedure. If Joseph hadn’t been with Jenna, he would have been asked to leave the treatment area in advance.
The entire procedure was handled by the Zahn medical sect. Seeing that Jenna wouldn’t let him wander around, he asked, “Are you afraid I’d sabotage the procedure?”
“I’m just worried you’ll get caught red-handed. Then you’ll be in trouble! Come on. Let’s grab supper. You’re paying.”
Jenna had been observing Edmund’s treatment procedure. Seeing that he had passed the critical stage, she decided to leave.
Joseph didn’t say much and went out for supper with Jenna. She even went back to the dorm with him, but she didn’t enter his room since she had her own single room.
Of course, their rooms were on different floors.
The moment Joseph opened the door to his room, he realized someone was inside. It was a young, handsome man in his mid-20s. He wore gold-rimmed glasses and looked gentle and well-mannered.
The room was untouched and still as neat as ever. Seeing the young man sitting there upright, Joseph realized he had been waiting for him.
“Who are you? How did you get into my room?” Joseph asked.

“You’re Henry Jebb, right? Let’s get to the point. I want you to leave Jenna. She’s not someone you can have!
“She’s way out of your league, and you’re just a nobody. She’s on a completely different level from you.” The young man rose to his feet. He was slightly shorter than Joseph, but he held his head high. Clearly, he had no intention of backing down. 1
“Oh? So you think I’m not worthy of her, but you are? Tell me. What’s so special about you? What makes you think you can talk to me like that?
“You came here uninvited too, thinking you’re some big shot, huh? You’re just a rude bastard!” Joseph said.
