Chapter 510
“Alright then. I’ll get Henry to brainstorm with me too.”
Once Gemma found Joseph, she dragged him to Skylar’s room and said, “Look at the state he’s in. How should we treat him?”
“I can’t help. I’m not good enough.” Joseph hurriedly refused, especially with Yara present.
The last time he had abducted Yara, he had treated her as well. If he demonstrated those techniques in front of her again, she might recognize him.
“You were able to save Charlie’s children. I’m giving you a chance to save this guy too.” Gemma pushed Joseph toward Skylar so he could examine him.
Those words did make Yara look at Joseph differently, but she didn’t actually suspect that he was Joseph in/ disguise. She figured that if Gemma trusted him, Joseph probably had the skills to back it up.
Yara said, “Henry, if you can bring my brother’s fever down, I’ll pay you handsomely.”
“Of course, I like money, but I’m not sure I have what it takes to help you,” Joseph replied, deliberately looking tempted, as though he was blinded by the cash.
“You like money, and Jenna’s rich too. You two are perfect for each other! It’s a deal, then.” Gemma had someone wheel Yara out of the room and dismissed the others as well.
Gemma then said, “You can give it a try. If you succeed, I’ll pay you. If not, we’ll figure something else out.
“I’ll be honest with you-we’re completely out of options. This is your chance, so don’t let it slip away.”
“Alright. I’ll give it a go.” Joseph acted as if Gemma had finally talked him into it and went over to examine Skylar. He then casually pretended to search online for a method to present to Gemma.
Gemma told Joseph to stay in the hospital room while she brought in a few others from the medical sect, including Jenna, to discuss the plan.
Jenna immediately guessed that Joseph had come up with the idea when she learned that he was in Skylar’s hospital room. Even though she was puzzled, she believed he wouldn’t be reckless enough to actually harm Skylar, so she chose to back him up.
Gemma decided to give Joseph’s method a try, administering a dose of traditional medicine along with targeted acupuncture. To everyone’s relief, Skylar’s fever broke in just over ten minutes.
Gemma monitored Skylar for a while longer. Seeing that his temperature remained stable, she began to see Joseph in a completely different light and told him to wait for her while she went to collect the money from Yara.
A few minutes later, she returned and handed Joseph a check for 100,000 dollars. He reached for it, but she pulled it back slightly and said, “You’re not going to pocket all of this and run, are you?”
“I know how it works. I’ll treat you guys! You pick the place.” Joseph wasn’t one to be stingy, especially since he had earned the money so effortlessly.
“You said it yourself.” Gemma held Joseph to his word and immediately decided on a place.
Seeing that, Jenna remarked. “Gemma, you’re really not holding back, are you? If we splurge on a place like that, most of the money on this check will be gone.”
“Oh my goodness! You’re already so protective of this guy, and you’re not even married yet!” Gemma chuckled.

She looked Joseph over thoughtfully, figuring he must have some hidden charm if he could make Jenna fall for him so hard.
Gemma felt a strange, nostalgic pang well up inside her when she recalled what had happened between her and Joseph back then.
Meanwhile, Jenna noticed that Joseph was still wearing his old, worn-out shoes, so she took him to a nearby store and bought him a brand-new pair of sneakers.
The truth was, she had always liked seeing him in a sharp suit and tie, but he needed to keep a low profile so people wouldn’t recognize him. Because of that, he stuck to a casual, unassuming style.
