A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 511

Chapter 511

Joseph had never been to a nightclub like that, so he was completely out of his element.

But Gemma was different. Not only did she know her way around, but she was also very good at it.

During the drinking games, whether it was rolling dice or playing rock-paper-scissors, she won effortlessly, while Joseph and Jenna got crushed.

If Gemma hadn’t been worried about them getting too drunk and leaving her without anyone to drink with, she wouldn’t have held back at all.

Even so, she never would have guessed that Joseph was only pretending to be drunk. He slumped onto a couch nearby and lay there motionless, refusing to move no matter how they tried to pull him up.

Gemma and Jenna sang songs and had a blast. They had no idea that Joseph had tampered with their drinks./

They became thirsty after singing for so long, so they finished off the remaining drinks without a second thought, falling right into Joseph’s trap.

After paying the bill, he had a waiter help support Gemma, while he guided Jenna down to the parking lot himself.

To his surprise, as soon as he put Jenna into his car, he felt something soft press against his back. He looked back and saw a woman reeking of alcohol. He tried to push her away, but she wrapped her arms around his waist so tightly that he couldn’t break free.

How could this woman be so strong? Did she train in martial arts? Who on earth was she?

While Joseph was still trying to figure out what was going on, the woman suddenly spun him around. She threw her arms around his neck and hopped up slightly, clinging to him.

“Bastard, how dare you mess with my woman! I’m going to kill you!”

Just then, a man stepped forward and aggressively yanked the woman away. After scolding her for being inappropriate, he slammed Joseph to the ground with a smooth wrestling move and kicked him hard over and over again.

It was a setup!

Joseph wasn’t much of a fighter, but the man was young and athletic, moving with speed and precision. He was clearly trained in martial arts too.

Even as he was being beaten, Joseph kept a clear head. Based on where the blows were landing, he realized the man only wanted to teach him a lesson and leave him with painful bruises, not kill him.

If the attacker had wanted him dead and delivered a well-placed kick to a vital spot, Joseph would have been finished.

True to that thought, the man soon stopped his assault. After issuing a harsh warning, he turned and left with the

woman.

Joseph made sure to burn the man’s face into his memory. He leaned against his car, trying to catch his breath.

Since he had just been jumped, the person pulling the strings would surely show up to gloat.

As expected, it wasn’t long before he saw someone step out from behind a pillar and approach him. His eyes widened when he realized it was Cora.

It was Cora who had arranged for that man to beat him up. What a devious woman!

Yet, Cora put on a mask of concern and asked, “Is that you, Dr. Jebb? How did you get so drunk? Let me call you an ambulance.”

“Thank you for your concern. You’re really kind. I’m sure good things will come your way. I’ve already arranged for a designated driver, so you don’t need to trouble yourself, “Joseph answered calmly, suppressing his anger.

He thought to himself that Cora had bested him this time. He resolved that next time he would make sure she regretted what she had done.

Just then, the rapid clicking of high heels drew closer, and Joseph saw Peyton approaching.

Peyton didn’t recognize him and merely glanced at him with utter disdain. Making no effort to hide her disgust, she asked Cora, “Do you know him?”
