A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 521

Chapter 521

In Croma, Yasmin woke up and noticed that Mavis’ room was still lit. Yasmin could faintly hear Mavis talking to someone, so Yasmin got out of bed.

Once the call ended, Yasmin stepped inside and asked, “It’s late. Who were you talking to?”

Mavis answered, “It’s an old friend of mine from Jenton. I was the one who called him.”

Yasmin immediately thought of someone. She questioned, “Is it Joseph? I can’t believe he dares to keep his phone on. Doesn’t he value his life?”

Mavis pulled her shawl tighter around herself before replying, “No, it was someone in the police, I asked him to help locate and protect Joseph. I can’t let him fall into the hands of the Lowells or the Zahns.

“Once we find him, we’ll bring him to Croma at any cost. Once he’s here, our family will gain another genius doctor. For all of you, it’ll be the greatest protection.”

Yasmin asked, “Can we find him?”

Mavis responded, “I doubt it. Joseph knows Jenton too well. He can always find somewhere to hide. Besides, so many people owe him their lives. Even if they weren’t patients or patients’ families, if they met a doctor as gifted as him, they would be willing to do him a favor.”

Looking at Yasmin, Mavis added with a sigh, “If Zachary weren’t pretending to be dead in that sanatorium, I would have sent you all back to Jenton to protect Joseph.”

Yasmin replied, “I can bring back Joseph for you.”

Mavis stated, “Now isn’t the time. We’ll talk about it next time.”

Lost in thought, Mavis went to bed. Before leaving, Yasmin reminded the caregiver to stay alert and notify her immediately if anything unusual happened.

Back in her own room, Yasmin found herself unable to sleep. She tried calling Joseph, but the calls didn’t go through. She decided to send him an email. To her surprise, she received a reply. Her eyes lit up as she asked, “Are you a person or a ghost?”

Joseph answered, “It’s the middle of the night. Obviously, I’m a ghost, Is there any news? Have you found anything new about her death?”

Yasmin responded, “It isn’t that easy. If there truly was foul play, it would have been carefully planned long in advance. I can’t investigate too openly, so I haven’t found anything yet. You have to be patient.”

Joseph replied, “You’re useless. It looks like I’ll have to go to Croma and investigate it myself.”

Yasmin laughed. “Sure, you’re useful. Aren’t you hiding like a rat everyone wants to kill right now? Your wife and the others are hunting you. You’ve really made a name for yourself.”

Joseph asked, “Are you looking for me too?”

Yasmin replied, “If I applied to go to Jenton, would you show yourself and come to Croma with me?”

Joseph answered, “I’m injured. I won’t meet you. I’m afraid you’ll capture me and settle all our old scores.”

Yasmin asked, “You’re injured?”

Joseph responded, “Yeah, I’m injured at the moment. I can’t treat patients. That’s all. If you learn anything about

Yasmin waited for several more minutes, but no further reply came. She knew that Joseph wouldn’t continue talking to her anymore, so she logged out of the email account.

She mumbled, “He’s injured? Should I tell Mavis? If I do, it might expose my relationship with Joseph. Forget it. I should keep watching for now.”
