Cora looked at her parents, knowing they were worried Joseph might target their family next. He was an exceptional doctor. If he chose to use his medical skills to harm people, he could be far more dangerous than anyone else.

Frank, Charlie, and Bruce had all fallen victim to Joseph. Whether they lived or died was entirely in Joseph’s hands.

Actually, Cora was mistaken about one thing. Joseph hadn’t poisoned Frank. It had been the work of the hardliners from the Croma faction.

Bernard stated, “It doesn’t matter whose business this is anymore. The priority is finding him first. Where do you think he could be?”

Cora replied, “I honestly don’t know. It looks like he has nowhere left to hide because everyone is looking for him. In reality, though, he could be anywhere. He can abandon everything without hesitation.”

As Cora said those words, she felt helpless. None of her three daughters were Joseph’s biological children. She still had no explanation for that. And that truth had become the final straw that shattered whatever remained between them.

No matter how she looked at it, he was no longer under her control. The moment he first handed her the DNA test

report,

and she refused both the divorce and his demand for money, he had quietly begun making preparations.

He had been strengthening himself in secret. Now, his wings were fully grown, and he had vanished without a

trace.

Helen asked, “If that’s the case, do you think he might have become a monk at some remote monastery where no one knows him? Yelena has connections, and those people from the Croma faction could probably help him create a new identity. If that’s what happened, we would never find him.”

Cora responded, “No. I have a feeling he’s still in Jenton. He’s hiding somewhere, keeping a low profile. However, he’s watching everything that is happening in Jenton through the internet and other channels.

“When he disappeared previously, he was probably laying the groundwork. We just never imagined he was capable of such a thing, so we let our guard down.”

Bernard cursed, “That despicable bastard!”

Cora added, “Even so, Jenton isn’t big. With so many people searching for him, he won’t be able to stay hidden for long. The real problem is making sure no one else finds him first. We have to find him before anyone else does and bring him home.”

Bernard was furious. “Bring him home? If I find him first, I’ll beat him to death myself!”

Còra said, “Dad, calm down. It’s late. You should get some rest.”

As Cora was about to leave, she saw one of the upstairs bedroom doors close. She knew that Selena had probably been eavesdropping on their conversation. She didn’t know how to comfort the latter, so she didn’t head upstairs.

What Cora didn’t know was that Natalie and Selena were upstairs wearing headphones. They had a listening device. Cora’s conversation with her parents had been transmitted to Natalie and Selena from beginning to end.

Even now, Natalie and Selena could hear Bernard’s cursing at Joseph through gritted teeth. Bernard was wishing he could kill Joseph directly.

Natalie removed her headphones and looked at Selena. Feeling complicated, Natalie said, “I never expected

Joseph to be this ruthless. He actually burned Mom’s company. If it weren’t for us, he probably would have burned this house too.”

Selena responded, “Dad has real guts. He’s truly my dad! I like seeing him doing such things. He can’t keep being the nice guy. I don’t want to see him get bullied.”
