A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 528

Chapter 528

Gemma rolled her eyes at Joseph. “What’s that got to do with me? I couldn’t care less!”

Joseph really knew how to hit a nerve. If Skylar wanted to marry Cora, no one in the Zahn family would object. After all, Cora was insanely rich, and money could solve most of the Zahn family’s problems.

“Everyone has to look out for themselves. Gemma, between you and Cora, I’d much rather see you end up with Mr.

Zahn.

“Just give me the green light, and I’ll move heaven and earth to make it happen. I’ll make him fall head over heels for you.”

“W-What are you planning to do?”

Gemma suddenly felt a sense of unease. She thought that maybe the person in front of her might be more capable than she’d given him credit for. And maybe that hidden side of him was exactly what Jenna saw in him.

“To make Mr. Zahn fall for you, obviously. The specifics are a secret for now. Just go along with me this once, and it’s a done deal. If it doesn’t work out, you can have my head.”

“I’m tempted to rip your head off right now. I’m good here. If you’ve got time, then keep Yara company. Jenna might get released sooner if Yara puts in a good word for her.”

Gemma didn’t believe a word Joseph said. Since when was it possible to just magically force someone to fall in love with another?

Joseph didn’t go back to see Yara, though. He didn’t want to keep saying things he didn’t mean. He simply refused to become a two-faced hypocrite.

Besides, he couldn’t keep playing mind games with Yara forever. The second he slipped up, she’d catch on. Yara was a Zahn, after all. If she decided to retaliate, someone in his position wouldn’t stand a chance.

He hadn’t achieved his goals yet. He couldn’t die now.

The next day, he contacted the trusted aide Yara had recommended. She was a sharp-looking woman in her 30s with a short, no-nonsense haircut. She spoke at a slightly brisk pace, her thoughts organized and easy to follow.

“I guess that damn Yara didn’t make all that money by accident,” Joseph mused. He could tell this woman was the real deal, so he just followed her advice and opened the necessary investment accounts.

In just a few days, he’d already made tens of thousands of dollars. And that was without even touching any high- risk, aggressive trading strategies.

Joseph didn’t slack off at the hospital, either. He brought Skylar’s infection under control while continuing to stabilize Yara’s illness, all the while making sure the meridians in her lower limbs continued to freeze over. He was going to make sure these two siblings continued to suffer.

Cora was wrapped up in the Provora project and barely came to the hospital anymore. Making money was still her number one priority.

As for Natalie, she hadn’t shown up at the hospital either. However, Joseph learned she’d been given a new identity under the name Natalie Zahn, complete with an account holding a considerable amount of money. Naturally, Skylar was the one who had set it all up.

His informants even got pictures of Natalie test-driving a supercar. Sitting behind the wheel, she looked thrilled, excited, and genuinely happy.

He could never give her a life like that, because he had never had it himself.

Cora could have given Natalie that lifestyle, but chose not to because she wanted to build Natalie’s character. She didn’t need Natalie to live a life of hardship, but she also didn’t want her becoming a slave to materialism.

At Natalie’s age, learning and building real skills should come first.

But seeing how Natalie beamed with such youthful energy and unrestrained excitement in the supercar, Joseph wondered if he and Cora had taken the wrong approach to parenting.

Maybe the best way to raise a child, or guide people in general, was simply to let them experience what was appropriate for their stage of life.
