Chapter 555

When Joseph returned to the hospital, Jenna and Gemma immediately pulled him into the office.

Jenna breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Joseph had returned safely. In truth, she hadn’t been all that worried; Cora simply had no way of dealing with him. Even if Joseph were pushed into a corner, all he had to do was reveal his true identity, and the crisis would disappear.

To him, this was all just a game.

He was pulling the strings, while Jenna, Cora, and everyone else were merely pawns on his chessboard. She both loved and hated this side of him.

When Gemma learned that Joseph hadn’t taken the opportunity to demand a massive payout, she was confused” You could’ve made over a million just now. Why did you turn it down?”

Joseph replied, “I didn’t dare to take it. Before she left, she actually threatened to castrate me tonight.”

Gemma gasped. “Castrate you? Why?”

Jenna immediately realized what had happened. Joseph must have used the opportunity to make some outrageous demand of Cora, either to test her fidelity or to get revenge. Cora obviously hadn’t agreed, hence the threat of castration.

“Serves you right!” Even though Jenna guessed Joseph was just messing with Cora, she was still annoyed. Without warning, she kicked him right between the legs.

“You-!” Joseph hadn’t expected Jenna to do something like that. Caught entirely off guard, he took the full force of the blow. It hurt like hell.

He cursed her inwardly.

Jenna ignored him and walked out to do her rounds.

Gemma, entirely in the dark about their dynamic, was genuinely worried about Joseph’s injury. She hurried over and helped him onto the couch. “Let me check. Hopefully, she didn’t do any real damage.”

Normally, Joseph would have been embarrassed, but it hurt so badly that he couldn’t care less. He was terrified that he might have suffered real damage that could affect his future functionality. If that happened, he’d have no choice but to join a monastery.

Gemma examined him and found no signs of serious injury. Still, she fetched some ointment and treated the area.

As she looked at Joseph, she couldn’t help but find it almost ridiculous for a man as ugly as him to be so impressively endowed. Honestly, fate must have been playing a cruel joke on him.

Then again, it might just be a blessing in disguise. With a face like his, if he hadn’t been well-endowed, he truly would have been deprived of any chance at a love life.

Gemma quickly asked, “Do you know why Jenna is so angry with you?”

Joseph looked confused. “Who knows?”

Gemma chuckled. “She’s jealous.”

Joseph frowned. “I didn’t even do anything. How did I make her jealous? Is she worried I’ll go looking for other women? Is she really that insecure? Who besides her would even look twice at a man as ugly as me?”

“Cora was very pretty when you saw her, right?” Gemma pressed. “Be honest-did you have any thoughts about her?”

Joseph merely laughed awkwardly, acting too embarrassed to admit it. Deep down, however, he was thinking about how blind he’d been in the past. He had fallen in love with Cora, only to spend all those years being betrayed and deceived.

If he were given the chance to do it all over again, he might still choose Cora-but once he won her over, he would dump her immediately afterward. There was no way he would keep an unfaithful wife.
