It immediately made sense to Joseph. If the Zahns were indeed behind it, their motive was obvious. It must have been because of how aggressively Cora had been going after Jenton Evercrest Industrial Group.

After all, if Mona revealed Evercrest Industrial’s top-secret information, there was no way Cora would pass up the opportunity to use them to her advantage.

The Zahn family had suffered its share of injuries and setbacks, and with its people being shuffled between positions so frequently, it might not have been able to withstand Cora’s relentless offensive.

If they couldn’t beat her in a head-on fight, they would resort to underhanded tactics instead. The poisoning was a warning. If Cora still refused to back off, more dirty tricks like this would surely follow.

Zahns.

The Lowell family was a rising force in Jenton. With the momentum that came with being the city’s wealthiest family, they were trying to make the leap from an elite family to a mythical-tier family.

The Zahn family, on the other hand, was already an established mythical-tier family in Jenton. Naturally, they wanted to defend their position and had no intention of giving up that status.
