Chapter 615
Afew days later, Joseph quietly returned to Jenton after spending several days roaming freely and losing himself in the scenery along the way.
He made his way to Kingsley Estate and restored his original appearance. He then gave Rosalie and Brooke some souvenirs he’d picked up during his travels.
Despite not having seen him for days, neither Rosalie nor Brooke seemed the least bit distant. If anything, they welcomed him back with the warmth of a family reunited after a brief separation. To them, Joseph had become the pillar of their family.
After fussing over him for a while, Rosalie headed to the kitchen and soon had several hot dishes waiting for him.
Meanwhile, Brooke excitedly told Joseph how much her grades had improved at school. His praise and reward thrilled her so much that she nearly jumped for joy.
Joseph shared in her happiness. For a fleeting moment, this make-believe family life gave him something that felt genuinely real. It was a rare taste of the kind of ordinary life most people got to live.
Perhaps, at the end of the day, all a man truly wanted was a wife, children, and a warm home to come back to.
However, life rarely let anyone have the best of both worlds. Whether he stayed or left, he did so simply to get by. Yet Joseph could neither go far nor truly settle down.
As Rosalie made Joseph’s bed, she saw that Brooke had gotten tired and had sensibly retired to her room to rest, so Rosalie decided to see if she could take things further with Joseph that night!
Upon returning to the bedroom after washing up, Joseph found Rosalie sitting against the headboard. She asked him to chat for a while longer, but the look in her eyes made her feelings and intentions perfectly clear.
Joseph knew exactly what she was after but didn’t call her out on it and simply chatted with her. When it was time to sleep, Rosalie made no move to leave. Instead, she slipped into his arms. Joseph didn’t push her away either.
“I’m tired and not in the mood. Besides, there’s no rush. So let’s just call it a night.”
Though her alluring scent stirred his desire and Rosalie was clearly willing to go further, Joseph still held himself back.
They stayed in each other’s arms, sharing a few kisses here and there, but never went any further.
The next morning, Joseph disguised himself and headed back to the Traditional Medicine Center to clock in for work.
Jenna was delighted to see him. Finding no one else in the office, she immediately threw her arms around him in a
tight embrace.
She wanted to ask where he’d been, but then remembered how he’d disappeared to a monastery before. She figured he’d probably done the same thing again over the past few days.
“I was so scared you’d leave and never come back that I was about to go looking for you! You can’t just abandon me. Since you promised you’d take me with you, you can’t go back on your word,” Jenna said.
“If I ever leave for good, I’ll definitely take you with me!” Joseph assured her.
Joseph returned her embrace just as tightly, kissing her back when Jenna leaned in. She was beside herself with joy that Joseph was finally accepting her. Yet the suddenness of it all, coupled with her nerves, left her stiff and

awkward.
Being inexperienced, she had no idea how to take things any further. And with people walking by outside the office, she didn’t dare cross that line, either. In the end, they merely exchanged a few tentative kisses before stopping.
