The more Natalie listened, the more she wondered how Joseph even managed to get his medical credentials. His medical knowledge was practically worthless-even she knew more than he did.

Joseph laughed. “As I said, you’re too young and too sure of yourself. If you don’t believe me, go find out what Cora has been busy with lately. Remember that time I asked Fiona to wear that outfit? Guess why she agreed.”

Natalie replied, “My mother told her to listen to you? Damn it. What kind of deal did you make with my mother?”

Joseph smiled slightly. “I’ll tell you for 20 million dollars. Think about it.”

He then left Natalie to think it over. He had already planted the seed; Natalie would definitely start digging through Cora’s affairs now.

Joseph arrived at Jenton University Hospital and discovered that Jenna was waiting for him.

He headed over and asked, “What are you doing here?”

Jenna replied, “I know you’re going to see Bernard and his wife. You keep saying you want to cut ties with the Lowell family, but you still care about them. Besides, how are you going to visit them under your current identity? Let me take you in.”

Jenna looked at Joseph. Joseph had burned down the Lowell Group’s headquarters, leading to massive losses. Bernard would probably want to kill Joseph on sight. Would he even allow Joseph to treat him? Joseph was such a brilliant doctor, yet he had ended up like this. Fate really was cruel.

Since Jenna was offering to take him in without him having to rely on his own connections, Joseph decided it was the better option.

He followed her into the ICU.

After Jonas had driven Joseph out of Jenton University Hospital, a power vacuum had emerged. The Zahn family had seized the opportunity almost immediately, arranging for members of the Zahn medical sect to enter the hospital.

That included not only the actual members of the sect, but also doctors who owed the sect favors.

Previously, the Croma faction had been driven out of Jenton University Hospital by Joseph, leaving the local faction in control of the hospital alongside the Zahns. But after Joseph left, the local faction proved incapable of carrying the burden on its own.

Taking advantage of Jenna’s examination, Joseph was able to check on them as well.

He felt Bernard’s and Helen’s pulses, reviewed the examination results, and quickly understood their conditions.

Bernard’s condition was somewhat serious. The poison had entered his cardiac veins, increasing the strain on his
