Joseph contacted Cora and went through several security checks before finally being allowed onto the property He was brought into a makeshift reception room that had been set up on the lawn in the courtyard.

Only Cora’s most trusted and closest confidants could enter the inner residence.

Cora immediately asked why he had disappeared without a trace. Joseph merely explained that he had no choice but to hide himself to stay alive since Skylar wanted him dead.

As for why he finally dared to show himself, Skylar had decided to let him off after he broke up with Yara.

Cora wasn’t particularly interested in whether the story was true. She didn’t bother investigating it and went straight to the point.

She said, “Right now, all I want is to find Joseph. Once I do, I want you to invalidate the conclusions from the previous paternity test involving my daughter. If you can provide me with a lead, I’ll reward you handsomely.”

Joseph replied, “I don’t have any leads on where Dr. Hart is either. But I still stand by my earlier assumption. If he’s going to perform that kneecap transplant surgery, he’ll have to use a major hospital. If you investigate along those lines, you’ll definitely find something.”

Cora frowned, clearly displeased with that answer.

Joseph changed the subject. “Earlier, some people from the Zahn medical sect went to examine your parents…”

Cora’s expression changed instantly. “What is Jenna trying to do? If she touches my parents, I’ll make her pay.”

Joseph hadn’t expected merely mentioning Bernard and Helen to hit such a nerve. Cora’s gaze sharpened, and she ,immediately assumed an aggressive stance.

Joseph hurriedly explained, “We’re only doing our duty as doctors. We’re not getting involved in your family politics. The people responsible for the poisoning were from the main family. They had nothing to do with the medical sect.

“You need to distinguish between the two sides. Otherwise, you’ll only create more enemies for yourself and end up being surrounded by all sides.”

Cora shook her head. “Just hurry up and find Joseph.”

Joseph was about to say something else when Cora’s phone rang. She immediately stepped away and instructed the security team to let a vehicle through.

Two women stepped out. One appeared to be around 50, while the other was probably in her mid-to-late 20s.

Since both of them were wearing masks, Joseph couldn’t see their full faces. Their foreheads were fair, and their eyes were sharp. Both were tall and strikingly well-proportioned. They weren’t as beautiful as Cora, but they were certainly impressive.

Cora personally led them inside. Given her unusually warm and respectful attitude, it was obvious she had a close relationship with them.

“Who are they? Are they relatives, or friends? I’ve lived with her for years, and I’ve never seen them before. Cora ust trust them if they’re allowed in the house. Are these people part of the forces she’s relying on to fight the Zann family?” Joseph mumbled to himself.

He memorized the license plate, intending to have Yelena and Yasmin investigate it later.

Once he confirmed that Cora, Kimberly, and Selena were safe, he returned to Jenton University Hospital and looked for an opportunity to enter Bernard’s ward.

He tried to stay there for as long as he could. At some point, Bernard’s delirious muttering caused Joseph to shiver. “Joseph, you ungrateful brat. How dare you burn down my company? I’ll make sure you die a horrible death. I’ll kill you!”

Joseph’s heart sank.

So things had finally come to light. Cora was probably feeling conflicted at that moment. Did she want to kill him? Or was she still planning to deceive him?

He’d originally intended to treat Bernard himself, but now he hesitated. Before a nurse or caregiver could enter, he slipped out.

He then entered Helen’s ward. The moment she saw him, Helen immediately turned around, unwilling to let anyone see her face.
