Joseph suddenly wished he could expose Yara’s true colors.

His touch eventually roused her from sleep. The moment she saw him, she instinctively smiled, looking slightly bashful.

“Just finished work?” Yara reached out for some breath spray and asked him to turn around. She was worried she

had bad breath.

The truth was, her oral hygiene was excellent; she only wanted him to see her at her best and leave a lasting impression. After all, a woman always wanted to look her best for the man she loved, and she secretly enjoyed his attention too.

“You don’t need that! Your breath smells fine!” Joseph playfully tapped Yara’s nose before kissing her on the lips. She kissed him back. If it weren’t for her condition, she would have given herself to him completely.

Joseph continued teasing her, but just as she was about to give in, he suddenly stopped. He just wanted to keep her hooked. He had only ever wanted revenge and wasn’t about to let her have her way.

He said, “Cora came to see me earlier. She wanted to see Skylar, but I turned her down. She gave me a warning before she left, and I’m not happy about it. Do you have anyone keeping tabs on her? I want to get back at her!”

“Just ignore her. Only our family is allowed to see Skylar. Don’t let anyone else get close enough to harm him.”

“Relax. Even if the Lowells and the Zahns are going after each other, they won’t cause trouble at the hospital. Even they won’t cross certain lines. Is Fiona one of your people?” Joseph asked tentatively,

“No, but I have plenty of people working at Cora’s company. I’ve always had people keeping tabs on her.

“Of course, I only use them when absolutely necessary. Some of them have been undercover for so long they’ve forgotten they were even spies until we reach out to them.

“They’ve managed to blend in really well. Henry, my family is really powerful-far more than you realize. You’d better treat me well!”

The Zahns had been operating for years, so Yara clearly wasn’t exaggerating.

Joseph asked, “What about the people working for Cora? Do you have anyone working for her, like her housekeeper or driver?”
