Cara kept denying the truth, so Joseph decided to end the conversation.

He had already laid everything bare for her to see. Natalie, Selena, and Kimberly weren’t his daughters, and Cora had been involved with Skylar. If Cora still chose to deny it, that was on her.

Joseph knew Cora would look into the housekeepers’ ties to Yara, and she was probably still figuring out how to erase any evidence and convince him that her daughters were his too.

Joseph had his people keep an eye on Yara and make sure Cora couldn’t just show up and take her away. After all, Yara was still useful to him.

In the early hours of the morning, he quietly made his way to Jenton University Hospital and slipped into Bernard’s room.

Bernard had been moved to a VIP room with one-on-one care. Since Helen had already recovered, she had gone home to rest, leaving only one caregiver behind.

Bernard was already in a deep slumber, almost as if he were in a coma. He was completely unaware of Joseph’s arrival.

Aside from the soft beeping of the monitors, the room was silent, almost eerie. The vital signs on the monitor were dangerously low.

There was internal bleeding… Joseph examined Bernard and realized he was in pretty bad shape.

After reviewing the treatment records, Joseph realized that the doctors hadn’t followed the treatment plan he and Jenna had designed for Bernard.

That meant either Bernard didn’t trust Joseph, or the doctors were letting their pride get in the way of what was best for their patient.

Joseph was slightly puzzled. He thought it over for a moment before coming up with a treatment plan. Then, he began waking Bernard.

Bernard woke to find the room brightly lit and assumed that the medical staff had come in to begin another round of treatment. Even though he was reluctant, he didn’t want to die, so he had to go along with it.

But when he heard Joseph’s familiar voice call out his name, it hit him like a slap in the face, jolting him fully awake.

“You ungrateful bastard! How dare you show up here? I’m going to kill you!” Bernard threatened Joseph and tried to hit him, but his arms were too weak.

Furious, Joseph shot back. “I came here to save you. If you don’t trust me, so be it! I won’t save you then!

“You called me an ungrateful bastard, huh? What the hell have I even done to you? Over the years, Cora secretly had three children with another man. She just couldn’t stop cheating on me. She betrayed me first. And you’re just pretending you don’t know the truth, you old geezer!

“What’s more ridiculous is that your entire family wants me to accept that Cora cheated on me and raise another man’s children as my own. You expect me to live out the rest of my life like a pathetic loser. Well, screw you!”

“You… Who do you think you are? Do you really think you’re good enough to have children with Cora?”

Bernard hadn’t expected Joseph to curse him out. Enraged, he immediately started mocking Joseph.
