Joseph muttered to himself, “If I hadn’t been working in the shadows, you might have actually fooled me!”

He felt a sense of relief as he walked away. Once he, Natalie, Selena, and Kimberly had undergone a bone marrow transplant, they would have the same blood running through their veins. Any paternity test done afterward would come back as a match.

In terms of reliability, DNA testing from blood samples carried more weight. If Joseph produced DNA test results based on hair samples while Cora presented results based on blood samples, the judge would be more inclined to accept hers.

Still, Joseph had to admire Cora’s sheer tenacity when it came to denying everything and twisting the facts. She denied cheating on him, having Skylar’s daughters, and even denied the paternity test results. And now she wanted to make sure the test results proved the girls were his daughters.

What a pity. Henry was Joseph himself! Cora could never have seen that coming.

“Does she really think she can force me to come out of hiding?”

Joseph frowned, knowing Cora had no reason to suspect his true identity. She probably had some other way of forcing him to reveal himself.

By then, she would capture him, draw his blood, and extract his bone marrow stem cells.

“But let’s see who strikes first!”

Joseph wasn’t about to sit around and wait for Cora to make the first move. He had already planned for this.

Ever since he found out that Yara still had informants inside Cora’s company, he kept trying to get her to reveal what she knew. After a few times, Yara finally gave him a few names.

Joseph still had another trick up his sleeve. He planned to manipulate, or even coerce, some of Lowell Group’s shareholders.

He wanted them to rally behind the Lowell family name and insist that a man should lead the family, rather than let Cora take control.

The Lowell men didn’t trust Joseph at first, but he told them that Cora planned to break away from the family, take the family’s assets with her, and start a new company with him.

Joseph had drilled the same story into their heads over and over again, so he was certain they had started believing him.

And the first step was to give Bernard food poisoning at Jenton University Hospital, leaving him unconscious and sending him to the ICU again..

Joseph planned to keep Bernard there for three days so he couldn’t interfere with Lowell Group’s affairs.

Cora didn’t have Bernard’s shares, and even though she held a substantial stake, it wasn’t enough to give her a major advantage over the other shareholders.

Meanwhile, one of the workers moving equipment at the hospital accidentally ran into Brenda, causing her to fall and suffer a few scrapes.

While giving her a tetanus jab, Joseph slipped her a sedative too. When she woke up, he informed her that she had appendicitis.

Since Brenda was scheduled for an appendectomy, she could no longer look after Luke herself. Joseph and the finance manager seized the opportunity to transfer Luke’s money.

Just as Joseph had expected, Owen simply wanted to reclaim the funds. Consolidating their resources would streamline things, help them prepare for potential risks, and prevent the family from betraying them.
