Joseph left the hospital. At 10:00 pm, he and his informant lay in wait for the Zahns’ accountant.

As soon as the accountant showed up, they overwhelmed him and dragged him away. After a nice little chat, he became more than willing to join Joseph’s side.

The next morning, the moment Joseph arrived at the department, he found Beth waiting for him. She immediately took him to see Yara.

Yara had clearly gotten up early, taking the time to freshen up and even put on some makeup. The sight of Joseph brought a smile to her face. She did look quite lovely when she smiled.

Yara said, “Henry, I’ve talked it over with Skylar. We’re going to let you manage our personal assets. As for the portion that belongs to the Zahns, we can’t do anything about it, so we have to let them take it back.”

Joseph hummed in response. After working out the numbers with Yara, he realized she and Skylar only had 300 million dollars in total. That wasn’t even a tenth of what he had hoped for, and it was nowhere near enough.

Joseph wanted it all-Skylar and Yara’s assets, and even the Zahns’. After everything they had put him through, no amount of compensation would be too much.

But with the Zahns’ finance manager secretly helping him, he knew he could get even more money, so he agreed for now. He pretended to be moved and once again showered her with affection. He could feel how soft and responsive her body was.

While Yara was undergoing treatment, Joseph went to Skylar’s room and woke him up. Although Skylar didn’t trust Joseph, looked down on him, and kept warning him, he still entrusted Joseph with all the money he could spare.

Once that was done, Joseph delegated some of his work before leaving the hospital to take control of the money.

Outside a bank, Joseph suddenly saw a familiar figure-Luke’s loyer, Brenda Keller. He quietly got closer to her and overheard her checking Luke’s account balance.

Judging by her satisfied expression, he clearly had plenty of money in the account. Still, if she wanted to get her hands on it, she would have to get him to the bank first.

“As long as I don’t sign off on it, that old man isn’t going anywhere! Miss, this is more than you can handle. Why don’t you let me have the money instead?”

Now that Joseph had his sights set on Luke’s money, he had his assistant atrange for Luke to be transferred to the ICU and keep Brenda away from him. Then he would have the Zahns’ finance manager set a trap for Luke.

In the evening, Joseph transferred all of Skylar and Yara’s money to his account.

On the way back, he got a call from Cora, inviting him to dinner. He thought it over for a moment before saying yes.

This time, instead of having Crestovian food, they met at a more intimate restaurant, in a quiet, secluded private room.

Fiona joined Cora and Joseph for dinner as well, but she left once they were almost finished.

Cora handed Joseph a sizable check and got straight to the point. “This is for altering the paternity test results between my daughters and Skylar.”

“You’ve already paid me, so you really don’t have to. But I suppose I won’t say no to more money!” Joseph chuckled as he took the check.

Cora took out another check, this one for an even larger amount. He pretended to hesitate before accepting it too.

He said, “If you have something to say, go right ahead.”

Cora laid out her terms. “First, find a way to prove that Skylar is infertile from birth. If you can’t do that, then make it look like

he’s sterile now.”
