Joseph had no idea that he was being tested. When he tried to get Yara to reveal what had been said, she didn’t say anything.

That evening, however, he noticed someone sneaking into the hospital, apparently trying to get into the intensive observation ward. Assuming it was one of Cora’s men, he immediately had his men work with hospital security to apprehend the intruder.

He didn’t take matters into his own hands. Instead, he handed the person over to the local police station for questioning.

The next morning, while Joseph was keeping an eye on information from Katie, he learned that Cora was waiting for him again.

Meanwhile, a critically ill patient was brought in and specifically requested that Joseph treat them. Joseph didn’t personally intervene and assigned the case to another specialist instead.

He also received a call from someone claiming to be Skylar’s friend, asking him to transfer money because they were in financial difficulty. Even more absurdly, someone claiming to be a member of the Zahn family demanded money from him.

What puzzled him most was that someone actually tried to kidnap him inside the hospital and extort money from

him.

Joseph was rendered speechless for a moment, but then felt that it made perfect sense. If he wanted to gain Skylar’s complete trust, there was no way it could happen without some testing.

Yara was different. She was a woman who had been won over by affection. Once she fell deeply in love, combined with physical intimacy, she would become completely devoted to him.
