Chapter 674
Katie didn’t say anything else. As long as Joseph remained married to Cora, all Katie could do was love him in secret. When faced with his wife, she would always be at a disadvantage.
Meanwhile, Cora really did stay at the clinic, waiting.
In fact, Joseph already knew that Cora went to Katie’s clinic the moment Cora left the Lowell Group.
What could she possibly have to say to him? She refused to admit that she’d deceived and betrayed him, yet she still expected him to go back and let her control him? What would be the point?
Joseph had no intention of showing himself, nor did he plan to call her.
Instead, he accelerated his efforts to force Walt out of Jenton University Hospital. When he heard that Walt had ” collapsed from exhaustion” in the operating room, he knew that Walt had once again understood what he needed to do.
Joseph immediately sent a proposal to the medical sect, laying out his plan to take over Jenton University Hospital. At the same time, he sent Yara to Skylar’s ward and had her ask Skylar to help him with the plan.
Only then did Yara realize how ambitious Joseph really was. Just becoming the man in charge of the Traditional Medicine Center wasn’t enough for him; he wanted Jenton University Hospital, too.
Skylar saw through Joseph’s intentions. “Be careful that you don’t take such a big step that you end up messing everything up.
Joseph retorted, “Do you think I’m doing this for myself? I’m doing this for the medical sect, the Zahn family, and for Yara. You can’t refuse to help me and then stand there making sarcastic remarks. If I’m doing well, then all of you benefit. And if all of you benefit, I’ll benefit even more in the end.”
Yara was touched once again. “Skylar, we should support Henry.”
Skylar cursed inwardly. His idiot sister was being used. There was no way Henry was that kind.
Skylar looked at Joseph. “What are you ultimately trying to obtain?”
Joseph replied, “I want to become the top person in the medical sect. I want to wield all the power. You gave me this platform. I can’t afford to miss the only chance I have to defy my fate and change my life. I have to climb higher if I want to repay you.”
Skylar remarked, “You certainly are ambitious.”
“If I wasn’t at least this capable, why would you have taken an interest in me in the first place?” Joseph kissed Yara again, then whispered something in her ear.
Yara was immediately bashful, and her cheeks heated up inexplicably.
Skylar frowned. “How am I supposed to trust you?”
Joseph replied, “I already went through the loyalty test at Emerald Mountain. I’m loyal to the medical sect and to the Zahn family. If you eventually succeed Owen, I’ll have the entire medical sect swear loyalty to you. Or we can simply help push you into that position.”
Skylar’s eyes widened. The thought of succeeding Owen and becoming the head of the family was undeniably tempting. Still, he didn’t trust Joseph.
Yara was stunned for a moment before she quickly said, “Skylar, I believe Henry can do it.”

Joseph said firmly, “I have to do it. There’s no turning back now. Either succeed, or I die trying.”
Skylar sneered. “What kind of beautiful picture are you trying to paint? The medical sect can’t even cure me. How exactly are you going to make me the head of the family? Am I just supposed to dream about it?”
Joseph replied, “Your condition isn’t nearly as severe or hopeless as you think. If you hadn’t been poisoned, you’d already be recovering at home by now.
