Chapter 692
Joseph mused, “Just as I thought! Cora, someone must have been backing you too.”
He had long since figured out that Cora’s rise wasn’t just the result of her own talent. Someone had helped her
strike it rich.
Cheryl said, “I know I came empty-handed today, so you might doubt my sincerity. Before I came to fenton and actually met you, I had no idea you cared this much about your wife.
“Once I get back, I’ll dig up some dirt on what your wife has been doing with the Dixons. It should definitely help with your divorce. But you’d better prepare yourself mentally. A woman as gorgeous as her definitely had to give something up to get the Dixon family’s backing.”
Joseph scowled at that.
Cheryl gave a helpless sigh. “I’m a woman too. I know perfectly well we can’t be on equal footing with you men, and I know exactly what a woman has to give up to get a man’s support.”
“Talk is cheap. Bring me proof that Cora has been sleeping around with people from the Dixon family, and I’ll take out every single one of them.
“I don’t care how powerful or high-ranking they are. I won’t let any of them off. In return, I’ll make sure your son gets to the top, and I won’t force you to be my woman.”
Joseph fixed Cheryl with a hard stare, then added a warning. “But if you’re planning to set someone up and use me as your weapon to take out your enemies, then I will deal with you too!”
“Hearing you say that makes me a lot more comfortable doing business with you!”
Back when she was talking to Yelena, Cheryl had thought Joseph was an indecisive man. But now? She realized he had a ruthless, cutthroat side to him. He was more like a true ruthless leader! A man like this should be able to get things done.
They exchanged secure contact info before parting ways.
Back at his villa, Joseph couldn’t sleep at all. He kept imagining Cora using business trips as an excuse to secretly go to Larkton and meet up with men from the Dixon family.
With looks like Cora’s and considering the Dixon men weren’t exactly celibate, there was no way that they would pass up a woman throwing herself at them.
One sordid scenario scene after another played vividly in his mind like a movie, filling him with anger, humiliation, and heartbreak.
Too restless to sleep, he decided to go for a drive. As he passed a bar, he found it familiar. This was the place he’d come to drown his sorrows when he first found out Natalie wasn’t his, back when he was completely devastated and helpless.
It had practically been his first time going to a bar, so the place had left a deep impression on him.
He went inside, found a quiet spot, and planned to have a couple of drinks. But then a commotion caught his attention. The owner of the bar, Anne Wells, was being cornered by a few young men who were trying to force a drink down her throat.
She’d grown out her short hair from back then. It was now past her shoulders, giving her a different kind of allure.

Joseph walked over and dropped the name of a top guy in the Zahn family’s nightclub scene. That was enough to
scare the punks off and get the owner out of trouble.
But Anne wasn’t exactly grateful. She just eyed Joseph warily as she asked coldly, “Are you with the Zahn family?”
“Not exactly. I’m just one of the hundreds of doctors in the Zahn medical sect, so I wouldn’t really count as a member of the Zahn family.”
“Do you know Skylar Zahn?”
“Yeah, I do. Why do you ask?”
