Joseph thought, “Like hell anyone would believe you!”

He knew exactly which parts of Yara’s statements were lies. He asked a few more questions. And when she kept glossing over the important parts, he became even more certain that when the time came, Yara would choose to kill Skylar with her own hands.

Joseph took Yara back to the hospital that very night. He played it off as needing to get her checked out to make sure “Joseph” hadn’t done anything shady to her.

In reality, he just wanted her to receive proper treatment at the hospital so that she’d heal up properly for the next phase of his plan.

After daybreak, Joseph came in with her test results. Playing the part of the devoted fiance, he happily pulled Yara into a hug and kissed her.

Yara kissed him back, but her movements were noticeably stiffer than before. She desperately tried to keep her desires in check, since she couldn’t give herself to Henry and had to save herself for Joseph.

She told herself it was just to get the antidote, but the more she thought about sleeping with Joseph, the more she found herself comparing him to Henry.

Deep down, she actually found herself feeling a little relieved. If she had to sleep with one of them, she was much more willing to sleep with the handsome and charming Joseph anyway.

And the thought that she had to secretly have his child made Yara realize just how deeply Joseph had embedded himself in her mind. Whether it was fear or something else, she could no longer pretend he wasn’t there.

So, during the kiss, she kept her response measured. When she felt Joseph’s growing passion, she said, “If you can’t hold back, you can sleep with Beth. I give you permission.”

She was offering her own housekeeper, who was also her caregiver.

“Oh, are you trying to make it up to me because Joseph took advantage of you last night? You don’t need to do that. I already had the head of gynecology check you out. You’re still untouched. Nothing happened between you and Joseph.”

“Y-You didn’t believe me?”

Yara secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The test results were more than enough to make Henry trust her. At least she didn’t have to go through the trouble of explaining herself.

Still, she pretended to be offended. She glared at him and shoved him away.

“I believe what you say, but I need some scientific evidence too. You’re a beautiful woman, and I was worried that punk wouldn’t be able to keep it in his pants around you.

“Since he actually treated you, you should be able to make a full recovery. You’ll be able to walk again. I can’t wait. I’m going to go tell the Zahn family and the medical sect now so they can celebrate with you.”
