Chapter 708
Joseph took out a vial of anesthetic before explaining how to use it. “If you do it this way, Skylar won’t feel any pain. About ten minutes after the injection, he’ll probably experience a minute or two of terminal lucidity.
“He’ll be completely coherent. When he is, tell him that I was the one who sent you to take his life. Make sure he knows I’m the one responsible!”
Yara barely had the strength to shake her head. “I-I can’t do it.”
“If you can’t, then you will die.”
Joseph grabbed the medical kit beside him. It was packed with all kinds of supplies. As he flashed a devilish smile, he said, “I’m going to treat you right now. And you’d better remember that you owe your second chance at life to me!”
As he worked on her legs, he continued, “If you were suddenly able to stand tomorrow, it would freak everyone out. So you’re going to recover gradually. In a week, you’ll be able to stand. And you’ll be walking normally again in two weeks.”
Yara was stunned. A deep dread settled in as she realized the true extent of Joseph’s medical skills. For over a decade, she had written him off as a pathetic good-for-nothing man.
She never expected him to actually be this skillful. The more she thought about it, the more fear showed in her
eyes.
Joseph said, “Don’t get so worked up. Cora knows what you did to me. She wants to clear her name, and the second she gets the chance, she’ll take you out.
“She thinks that if you die, there’ll be no evidence left of what you did to me back then.”
Yara was just as terrified of Cora’s retaliation. “Have you not confronted her? Why won’t she just admit she betrayed you?”
Joseph scoffed. “Would you confess to your fiance about your relationship with me?”
“I…”
Yara didn’t know how to answer. Her own question had backed her into a corner.
“You women really are all the same.”
Joseph sneered as he sped up the treatment. Once he was done, he left the room.
Little by little, Yara began to feel the effects of Joseph’s work. The sensation in both her legs was gradually becoming more pronounced.
The thought of being able to walk normally again filled her with excitement.
But at the moment, she was completely naked, with medicine and other liquids all over her body. She knew this was going to be an absolute nightmare to explain.
It wouldn’t be long before Henry completely misunderstood what had happened.
She could only pray that Beth woke up first and came to clean her up.
But her hopes were in vain. Half an hour later, Joséph, disguised as Henry, walked in. She could see the suspicion and disgust in his eyes.

She blurted out, “Henry, it’s not what you think! Joseph came here just now and treated me. When he stuck the needles in me, I felt this intense heat, like a volcano erupting inside my body.
“He said that paralysis required a fire-based treatment, and that the needles he used were called Burning Needles,
Joseph mused, “What a pathetic excuse. Even if it were the truth, who the hell would believe it? You’re not going to hear the end of this.”
He pretended to be shocked. “What did you say? Joseph was here? And he treated you?”
“Yes, he was here.”
“Why would he treat you? What did you give him in return?”
“Money. He said he wanted cash. Once I’m better, I’m going to pay him a massive amount-300 million dollars at the very least. He said he’d name his exact price once the treatment is done. And I’ll pay him.”
Joseph remarked inwardly, “And there it is, the lie, right on cue! Women really are natural-born liars!”
He naturally pretended to be skeptical. “That’s it? Nothing else?”
