Chapter 715

Joseph suddenly realized that Skylar had more secrets worth looking into. He decided he wasn’t about to let Skylar die that easily. He then had someone keep an eye on Skylar to make sure Yara didn’t actually go through with killing him.
And letting Yara agonize over the decision was a form of torment in itself.
There was no need to rush. What mattered was playing the long game.
Joseph wanted Skylar and Yara to suffer the same way. He would let them endure the torment for as long as it took. Once they had lost the will to live, he would put an end to it.
Joseph had all the time in the world.
After looking into it for two days, Joseph found Skylar’s and Yara’s accounts and discovered they had money in them too, so he transferred it all to himself.
Yara was reluctant to part with her money, but she had no other choice. She had to hand it over to keep Joseph on her side.
Later, Joseph learned that Fiona had gone to Katie’s clinic again. He knew he couldn’t keep avoiding Fiona, and he didn’t want to cause Katie any more trouble.
That night, he went over to Fiona’s villa. His sudden appearance startled her. Then her eyes welled up with tears, and she threw herself into his arms, sobbing.
“Joseph, you’re finally here. I knew it. You’d never abandon me like this.”
“You and Cora have been scheming just to pin the arson incident on me and have me arrested. How could I possibly go out in public after that?
“Are you going to call Cora now? Or call the cops on me?” Joseph shoved Fiona aside and sat on a nearby couch.
“Why would I ever do that? Cora would never hold that against you, and it’s not my place to do so either. I’d never do something like that.
“My heart belongs to you, Joseph. If you don’t believe me, feel it. It beats just for you.” Fiona moved closer to Joseph, arching her chest toward him.
Fiona was wearing a camisole, her generous curves hard to miss. She might have been ill, but it wasn’t serious enough to affect her appearance.
Seeing that Joseph hadn’t even moved, she steeled herself, grabbed his hand, and placed it on her chest.
“Joseph, can you feel my heart beating? It beats just for you.”
Joseph took the opportunity to examine Fiona and felt some lumps. After taking her pulse and considering the test results he had seen earlier, he was even more certain of the diagnosis.
He said, “Stop pretending. I didn’t come here because I wanted you to confess your undying love for me. I don’t need that.
“You guys kicked me out of the hospital, and now you’re begging me to come back and treat you.

“Who do you take me for? You can’t keep ordering me around just because you feel like it.”
“Joseph, I know I messed up! What I did back then was wrong!” Fiona quickly apologized, tears streaming down her face as she cried.
“Oh, whatever. Fiona, how do you want me to treat you? I could arrange for surgery. You have lumps on both sides, so we’ll remove both. Or would you prefer a conservative treatment?”
“1… I don’t want surgery. I’ll go for a conservative method.” Fiona’s eyes lit up. She felt as though she had finally been thrown a lifeline. This time, she could no longer hold back her tears, and they were tears of joy.
Joseph didn’t hold back. He went into the master bedroom and immediately began treating her.
As he was finishing the treatment, she whispered, “Joseph, Cora feels sorry for what I’m going through. She said I could do whatever I wanted with you. If you want me, we can do it right now.”
“Who is Cora to you? Are you just going to do whatever she tells you? Look at you. How are you any different from the women working for her at Maroon Mansion?”
Joseph sized Fiona up. He knew he could have her if he wanted, but he didn’t.
