A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 716

Chapter 716

“Who am I working for? Joseph, what do you mean? I’m all yours!” Fiona exclaimed.

Joseph replied, “Cora has quite a few spies around her, and I’ve helped her uncover many of them. But I know there are a few more.

“And now you’ve got me wondering. Are you working for Cora? Or the Zahns? Or some other family?”

“Without Cora’s help, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’ve always been really grateful to her, so I’ll do whatever she asks of me.

“Joseph, you’ve given me a second chance at life and made me feel like myself again. I’m yours now, so I’ll do whatever you ask. I don’t work for the Zahns or any other family.”

Fiona quickly declared her loyalty to him. She looked at him pleadingly, hoping he would take her as his own

woman.

Now that she was ill, she knew Henry wouldn’t bother her anymore. In fact, he was the one who helped her realize that she had fallen in love with Joseph.

Back then, Fiona would never even think of Joseph that way. But now that she had cancer, and with Cora’s permission, she wasn’t going to hold herself back anymore.

If she was going to confess her feelings, now was the time. She might not get another chance.

Joseph wasn’t entirely convinced by what Fiona had said. He knew some people didn’t even realize they were pawns until it was too late.

He paid no attention to her confession and left once the treatment was done.

Over the next three days, he came over at night to treat her, and she did exactly as he instructed and kept the

treatments a secret.

Meanwhile, Cora was still busy handling Hart Group’s affairs and couldn’t get away. She learned from Joseph that Skylar was critically ill and had been moved to a VIP room. Outsiders weren’t allowed to enter.

Cora had repeatedly urged Joseph to kill Skylar, but he refused. All she could do was wait for the right moment.

After receiving treatment, Yara’s condition had improved considerably, so Joseph arranged for her to be discharged.

That night, Joseph drugged Beth and pretended to do the same to himself. Then he showed up again to treat Yara while probing her for information.

But Yara did something unexpected. When Joseph brought up Skylar and Cora’s children, she confessed her feelings outright.

“Joseph, I’m jealous of all the happy years Cora had with you. I have feelings for you too, and I’m really grateful for what you’ve done for me. Once you’re divorced, we can be together.”

“So you don’t want your fiance anymore?” Joseph scoffed to himself.

He wasn’t a three-year-old anymore. How could he possibly fall for her nonsense just like that? Besides, he

stopped trusting anyone a long time ago.

“My fiance can’t compare to you. And lately, he’s been going against me too. We’re starting to see things differently. If you cure me, I’d be more than happy to repay you.”

Joseph chuckled. “Henry still wanted to be with you even after learning that you might have to have your leg amputated. You really got lucky, huh?

“Now that your legs can be saved, you think he’s not good enough for you? You really are shameless!”
