A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 718

Chapter 718

Joseph let out a laugh. “Rich people really can do whatever they want, huh? In that case, I’ll take you up on that!”

Joseph flipped the photo over and saw a phone number on it. It was probably the superstar’s personal number.

He said, “Yara’s recovering well now. She wants me to give her money back…”

“Well, that’s easy to fix!”

Cora cut in. “You can invest in my new company, Hart Group. These are founder’s shares, so as the company grows, your returns will keep increasing.

“Once the money’s with me, Yara won’t be able to get her hands on it. Also, I can make sure she stays dependent on you. For example, I could actually have both her legs amputated.”

“Let me think about it!”

Naturally, Joseph would never invest his money into Cora’s company. Even though it carried his last name, everyone working there was loyal to her. If he put his money into it, he would never get a single cent back.

Besides, Joseph was spending money to recruit people, build up his own network, and have his people buy intel.

Before he left, he asked, “Your eldest daughter hasn’t been coming to the hospital lately. Did you manage to talk some sense into her?”

“What would she even know? I’ve got the evidence. She has no choice but to accept it. I really have you to thank for that. If you hadn’t given me the idea, I wouldn’t have known how to overturn my husband’s conclusion.”

“Don’t mention it. We just need to fight fire with fire!”

Even as he said that, he told himself that Cora could keep clinging to that fantasy like her life depended on it.

Of all of them, Natalie was probably the most frustrated. She had been hoping to inherit Skylar’s money. If she had the Lowells’ money too, she would have a promising future. With Cora paving the way for her, she could climb even higher.

But then everything changed. Cora split from her family and founded Hart Group, so Natalie couldn’t get her hands on the Lowells’ fortune. And if she refused to acknowledge Joseph as her father, she wouldn’t be able to inherit a single cent from Hart Group either.

Even if Cora wanted Natalie to go to the hospital and acknowledge Skylar as her father, she wouldn’t go. She simply didn’t have the guts.

When Joseph returned to Yara’s villa, he noticed several unfamiliar people stationed outside. Suspicious, he waited until she was resting before asking Beth about them.

Beth told him they were Yara’s people. She suspected someone might be out to get her, so she had tightened security.

Those people weren’t even under Joseph’s control. Was Yara trying to slip out of his grasp? Now that she had set a trap around the villa, how was he supposed to come and go whenever he pleased? She was probably trying to keep track of his movements.

Joseph immediately went to Yara and asked her to hand over those people. He wanted authority over them too.

Since Yara refused, he had his people disguise themselves as members of the Zahn medical sect and break into the villa. After subduing her people, they took control of the place.

Yara began to panic. If the villa was so heavily guarded, how was Joseph supposed to get in and treat her?

She had no choice but to back down. She promised not to station her people around the villa, and Joseph couldn’t place anyone from the medical sect there either.

That night, Yara showered Joseph with affection. She was willing to do anything with him except go all the way.

The tension between them finally seemed to melt away.

Two days later, Yara felt like she was getting some strength back in her legs, and she could stand for a short time. However, even a minute of standing left her completely exhausted.

Joseph gave her words of encouragement. At the same time, he also kept a close eye on Cora, making sure she didn’t take revenge on Yara.

If Cora really did have Yara’s legs crippled, it would throw off his plans for revenge.
