A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 737

Chapter 737

That evening, Yara had Beth prepare an elaborate dinner and sent her to the hospital with strict instructions to bring Joseph home.

She had even prepared a very expensive luxury watch for him. She personally fastened it around Joseph’s wrist, and it fit perfectly. When she saw how pleased Joseph was, Yara was pleased as well.

After several rounds of drinks and a few courses of food, Yara finally brought up the matter of helping Harry. After all, she was Clara’s great-niece.

Joseph knew exactly what she was getting at, but she neither refused nor agreed. He simply said that he would follow whatever Owen and the medical sect decided.

Yara wasn’t satisfied and asked Joseph to go help out the next day. Otherwise, the medical sect might start making moves to formalize Harry’s case and divide up his resources. They might even force his wife out of Emerald Mountain. By then, it would be too late to do anything.

After some thought, Joseph asked her to have Clara see him at the hospital the next day to discuss things.

Yara assumed that Joseph had agreed to help. Then, she brought up another matter. She asked Joseph to return her money because she needed funds to get things done.

The moment he heard that, Joseph exploded in fury. He grabbed Yara by the collar and hauled her out of her wheelchair. After slapping her across the face, he threw her aside.

He pulled off his belt and lashed out at her. Even in his fury, however, Joseph hadn’t truly lost control. His blows were deliberately slow and mostly off-target, giving Yara enough time to scramble away and retreat.

When she saw what was happening, Beth hurried over and wrapped her arms around Joseph, trying to stop him and calm him down.

Yara had already fled into the bedroom. Once she was out of reach, Joseph finally settled down.

Pointing toward the bedroom, he cursed at her. “You ungrateful bitch! When you were at your lowest, I was the one who stayed by your side. If it weren’t for me, would you have made it through those days? You would’ve been dead long before he ever came to save you.

“Now that your legs are getting better, you’ve gotten everything you wanted from me and decided I’m useless. So you’re kicking me to the curb.

“Fine, kick me away. I’m just an ugly toad anyway. I was never worthy of someone like you. But you have the nerve to take my money and give it to him? Don’t be so damn shameless.

“Yara, if you’re still a human being, stop hiding in there and come out here!”

Yara shouted from inside the bedroom, “Leave my house immediately, or I’m calling the police!”

Beth pleaded, “Sir, you should go, or Ms. Yara really will call the police. You still have a bright future ahead of you. Don’t leave yourself with a criminal record.”

Joseph sneered. “Yara, don’t even think about touching my money. You’re not getting a single cent. If you push me too far, I’ll take you down with me! Fuck you! Even a cornered rabbit will bite.”

Joseph then stormed off furiously.

Half an hour away, another one of his phones received a message from Yara. She messaged to tell him that she had

driven Henry away and knocked Beth out. So, the entire house was empty. She wanted Joseph to come over.

Mat wretched woman.

Joseph replied that he would head over in the middle of the night.

And when the appointed hour arrived, Joseph actually showed up.

Yara said, “Joseph, you’re finally here. I’d have died if I had to wait for you any longer.”

Yara had dressed up meticulously. She was in an expensive evening dress and had done herself up to look as beautiful as possible, determined to impress Joseph.

She hadn’t even gone to sleep and had been waiting for Joseph the whole time.

The moment she saw him, she threw herself into his arms like a frightened little rabbit, immediately feeling, a sense of safety.
