Chapter 744
“Why are you bringing up things that happened so long ago?” Bernard questioned.
Joseph answered, “Back then, Cora wouldn’t give me any money. She won’t give me any now, and she won’t give me any in the future either. If all the money I make belongs to her and has nothing to do with me, why should I help her make money? So that I can help her raise her children?”
Bernard responded, “Why do you have to put it so harshly? Nat and the others have addressed you as their father for all these years.”
Joseph stated, “Cora came up with this ridiculous story claiming that Skylar isn’t the biological father of them. She used that DNA test report to try to fool me. I really want to get a DNA test report proving that you and Cora aren’t biologically related either. I would like to see how you feel then.”
Bernard replied, “That’s fabricated. A lie doesn’t become the truth just because you say it is.”
Joseph asked, “Have you never wondered whether or not your wife could have betrayed you? What if Cora isn’t your daughter? Your wife is beautiful, isn’t she? She’s just as beautiful as Cora. Since Cora fools around, isn’t it possible that she got it from her mother?”
Bernard was furious as he glared at Joseph. “That’s slander! You’re making baseless accusations!”
Joseph responded, “What if I took your wife out to a hotel for dinner? Maybe to a hot spring. Would you be fine with that?”
“How dare you!” Bernard shouted.
With that, Joseph proved his point. “See? I was only saying it, and you couldn’t even stand the thought. You would probably want to fight me to the death. Yet, Cora did exactly that to me. She even had children with other men, and you still expect me to be the bigger person and forgive her?”
Upon hearing that, Bernard fell silent. After a long pause, he finally said, “Joseph, if you have even a shred of decency left, don’t touch Helen. She’s Cora’s mother, and she’s your mother-in-law.”
Joseph replied, “Just because you people have no boundaries doesn’t mean I have none. Once I’m divorced from Cora, I’ll find someone younger. Why would I want some woman in her 60s or 70s?”
Joseph sneered. If Bernard were any younger, he probably would have already been at war with his own wife. So, how could Joseph possibly let Skylar and Yara off easily?
After leaving Bernard, Joseph went to Beatrice and Alice’s room. Since he hadn’t changed back into his fake appearance, he couldn’t meet them. He just looked through the window. Seeing that they were doing well, he
left.
Two days later, Joseph received an urgent call from Beth. She told him that Yara had been attacked. He immediately took an ambulance and rushed over.
Yara had gone out last night and hadn’t returned. At daybreak, Beth found Yara unconscious on the lawn outside the villa.
Joseph performed a quick examination. Yara wasn’t in immediate danger, but her left arm and both legs had been broken. Both kneecaps had also been severely damaged.

Who did this? Joseph’s first suspect was Cora.
Of course, Joseph could tell that Cora hadn’t done it herself. Her bodyguards didn’t seem like the type to be this vicious either. Besides, the way Yara’s kneecaps had been damaged was highly professional. This technique reminded Joseph of the case involving Alice.
It might have been the same person, or perhaps they belonged to the same sect. They were professionals.
Joseph wondered, “Cora, did you know this person yourself, or did one of your lovers introduce you to them?”
