Chapter 743
Joseph sent Yara back to the villa. He didn’t hit her, nor did he show her any affection. He just dropped her off and left.
Once Joseph was in the car, he gave Cora a call. The moment she answered, she started blaming him. “Henry, why are you working against me? Aren’t we supposed to be allies?”
Joseph replied, “She called me for help. If I hadn’t gone, she could have turned around and blamed everything on me in front of her family. I would have been the one taking the fall.
“What were your people supposed to do to her in such a situation? Tear her apart? If they had, everyone would only sympathize with her. Your husband might even feel sorry for her. Is that the outcome you wanted? Don’t cause a scene in broad daylight. You need to work quietly without drawing attention.”
Cora sighed. “My husband is truly capable. He always makes trouble for me.”
“Ms. Lowell, you should be grateful. He did save your parents, after all. Otherwise, you might have lost both of them by now. Of course, let’s keep things separate. Your husband is still a huge challenge for our medical sect,’ stated Joseph.
Cora responded, “Keep me updated on your search for him. His existence is your biggest leverage against the medical sect. As long as he’s still out there, you’ll be valued in the Zahn family.”
Joseph agreed, “That’s true, but I still think my own abilities have more to do with it. Nevertheless, without the right platform, even the most capable person can’t accomplish much. Your husband may have stolen my opportunity with Yara, but I don’t blame him.
“Yara and I never had any real feelings for each other. If I can’t be with her, I can always find another woman from the Zahn family. The goal is to rise above everyone else.”
Cora replied, “I’m glad you’ve come to terms with it, but I think you still need Yara. How about this? I’ll give you a hand, and at the same time, I’ll make Yara pay a little for what she has done. Otherwise, she’ll start thinking I’m someone she can push around.”
“What are you planning?” Joseph asked.
“I can’t tell you. If I tell you now, it won’t work anymore. Just wait and see,” answered Cora before ending the
call.
Joseph interpreted whatever Cora was planning to do to Yara as nothing more than two dogs fighting over the same bone. He had no intention of interfering. He decided to just let them fight it out.
Meanwhile, Yara sent a message to the real Joseph. He didn’t reply, but he realized that she had transferred money to him.
If another man had seen Yara willing to give so much, he might have been moved. However, Joseph wasn’t another man. He hated Skylar and Yara to the core.
Skylar and Yara had deceived Joseph for nearly 20 years and ruined the best years of his life. How could a little money make up for that?
That night, Joseph went to Dolly’s sanatorium and spent some time drinking tea and chatting with her.

Afterward, he went to treat Bernard again.
Bernard’s condition improved noticeably, and he thought he was back on top of the world. He immediately told Joseph to apologize to the Dixon family.
Joseph responded calmly, but the threat behind his words was unmistakable.
He said, “Of all the things you could bring up, you had to bring up that? The Dixon family is in Larkton. If they were based in Jenton, they would already be following in the footsteps of the Ashmore family. How could you expect me to apologize to them?
“Besides, your life is practically in my hands, yet you think you can order me around? Aren’t you afraid I’ll put an end to you?”
Sure enough, Bernard fell silent and stopped making demands. Instead, he changed the subject. “Now that Cora has established a company bearing your last name, she’s also busy managing the company’s affairs. If you’re so capable, why don’t you come out and help her?”
Joseph asked, “Who gets the money the company makes? Do I have any say in how it’s spent? Tell me this first.”
Bernard answered, “Of course, you do.”
