Only Derek pressed his lips together and said quietly, “Josie’s not like that.”
Aria’s face fell. She bit out, “If you don’t believe me, just wait and see.”
The moment she finished speaking, the lights suddenly went out.
A single spotlight illuminated the stage, shining down on the principal.

turned toward the stage, eager for the drama.
The principal cleared her throat, her face stern.
“During last week’s monthly exam, I caught a student cheating while proctoring. With the SATs right around the corner, instead of focusing on improving their skills, this student chose to take shortcuts. To serve as a warning to everyone, I’m publicly announcing the name of this student-”
Aria shot Derek a smug look.
Derek’s brow furrowed deeply.
Dad gripped the armrest, his furious expression locked and loaded.
The second the principal said my name, he was ready to storm the stage and beat me senseless.
