A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy's Woman novel Chapter 40

Chapter 40

Antonio had just complained to Diana, but the very next day, he was proven wrong.

Pacing back and forth, he thought for a moment, then called Bethany into his office. Beth, I heard from Easton that you landed a big deal for the company! Why didn’t you say anything before if you had these connections?

Bethany understood what he was implying and smiled faintly. You never asked. Mom said that it was my fault that we lost clients, so I’m just trying to make up for it. But Uncle Antonio, I’m not covering for this kind of mess next time.

Antonio was left speechless. His face flushed with embarrassment after that retort.

Bethany quickly left, saying that she had work to do.

Antonio was frustrated but powerless against her.

Back in her office, Bethany opened her WhatsApp chat with Silas, hesitating over how to thank him.

Before she could type, he sent a message. Are you going to tell me that you’ve fallen for me? You’ve been staring at my chat for half an hour.

Bethany was rendered speechless.

She forced herself to reply, Thank you. Mr. Holland came by today to discuss a deal. I’m guessing that it was your doing. I just wanted to say thanks.

Oh, that’s it? So you haven’t fallen for me?Silas teased.

Bethany replied, Mr. Brennan, I haven’t forgotten that you like men.

After that, Silas stopped replying.

Bethany stared at her phone for a moment, then chuckled and locked the screen. She realized that she might be investing too much energy in him.

Just then, she noticed her work group chat buzzing about Royal Crest Cruiser’s new deal with their hotel. What used to cost 29,999 dollars per person was now 19,999 dollars for two.

She considered buying a package for Silas and his boyfriend so they could have a nice trip.

Fortunately, she and Silas were a fake couple. No one else would be generous enough to arrange a vacation for her husband

and his lover.

When Bethany arrived home, she saw men’s shoes by the door and knew that Silas had already returned.

She asked Jane, Is he in the study?

Jane smiled. Mrs. Brennan, Mr. Brennan’s in the bathroom.

Upon hearing that, Bethany headed to his bedroom and placed the gift on the nightstand, holding it down with the lamp.

She didn’t notice the tall figure approaching from behind.

Did you write me a love letter?a teasing voice sounded.
